Jake Livermore

Yeah I was overly harsh in my original post on here, should learn to let these things play out before making a judgement.

Must be extremely difficult, condolences to him and his wife, wish them all the best for the future. Glad the FA have taken a sensible course of action.

In fairness, he did something no other young footballer I know of would've done - he took it on the chin and did not offer context behind what happened. He kept things private. Both noble and surprising behavior. I, too, hope it works out for him. I always liked him as a player because he as one of ours, one of us and worked so hard.

Had a few conversations with him at my gym. I put the details in the 'what footballers people have met" he mentioned the death of his son. To be fair in the short times I've met him he seems like a really nice bloke.

Hope he gets his career back on track.

Poor bastard.

Football star's baby died after maternity blunder at top private hospital

Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore and his partner Danielle Del-Guidice’s son Jake Junior suffocated at birth after mistakes were made during the delivery

A football star’s baby tragically died following a blunder at a top private maternity hospital.

Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore and his partner Danielle Del-Guidice’s son Jake Junior suffocated at birth after mistakes were made during the delivery.

The Portland Hospital, where couples pay up to £20,000 for maternity services, has expressed its “deepest sympathy” to the couple.

Jake Junior died the day after England Under-21 star Livermore, 25, and his Hull City team-mates narrowly lost 3-2 to Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

An inquest into the tragedy at the private hospital in London’s West End heard harrowing accounts of the desperate attempts to save the baby boy.

But in her summing up, Westminster Coroner Dr Shirley Radcliffe made it clear Jake Junior’s death was avoidable.

Following the tragedy, former Tottenham Hotspur star Livermore slipped into a cocaine-fuelled spiral of depression and failed a drugs test.

However, he escaped a ban after the FA ruled the death was an overwhelming mitigating factor.

The couple chose the Portland because of its outstanding reputation and the fact it is popular with footballers and celebs.

It boasts on its website that it puts the “emphasis on safety and quality”.

Danielle went into Labour on May 18 last year.

Tests showed the baby was in distress, yet a medic failed to carry out a blood test and continued with a normal delivery rather than a caesarean, the inquest heard.

For nearly an hour they tried to deliver Jake Junior.

Finally, at 12.58am, an emergency caesarean was performed but by then it was too late to save the baby.

Recording a narrative verdict, Dr Radcliffe said: “A delivery by emergency caesarean at or before 11.30pm would have resulted in a live birth.”

A hospital spokesman said: “We have carefully noted the recommendations made during the inquest.

"Our policies, processes and training have been fully reviewed and we have taken appropriate action where recommended.”

He added: “We extend our deepest sympathy to Mr Livermore, Miss Del Giudice and their family.”

The star declined to comment.

That's horrible. I can't believe the clams even asked for a comment, they should be ashamed.

If I was Jake I would be looking for blood......I can think of little worse happening in one's life that this.
"avoidable" Id want to wring somebody's bloody neck!

I'd be interested to see who else Pulis buys...and which agent that player has...

...He has bemoaned the fact that WBA need to spend and "add more quality"; then he goes and buy Livermore when i can't see what he would add to the their midfield....

Maybe just getting his excuses in early, as he knows he can only afford brick*.
*Obviously could afford youngsters if he didn't rely on agents to do the scouting.

Honestly have no idea why Pulis or WBA fans bitch about anything. They have had a decent season, they have been safe the entire way through, and will likely finish top 10.

The lack of perspective for some of these clubs is unbelievable, the top 6 is pretty consistent and in another category re earn/spend on consistent basis. You then have Everton, Southampton, West Ham who are fighting for what might be 1 European spot. If WBA were to finish in top 10 for 3-4 season in a row, then they could think about something more.

Did you see the game Saturday? they had no midfield. When I've seen any Hull games Livermore looks the driving force, he is much better than Ferguson.

I agree with that. Yacob is awful and that other man utd reject is not much better. Livermore is not great but he will be an improvement.

at worst he is a good squad option, something we forget most mid-lower table sides badly struggle with.

Hull fans seem to think that they'd be better served with Clucas taking over Livermore's role. Can't see it myself, but they obviously have watched the two a lot more than I have.

Either way, he's a good pickup for West Brom at a relatively sane January price. He'll beef up their options in central midfield - might even sneak a run of games over Yacob if he can show a bit more attacking intent. Good on him for rebuilding his career the way he's doing after his personal tragedy and his damaging attempts to cope with it.
