TOTTENHAM vs. ASTON VILLA - OMT

That game was all about one pass from Naughton, putting Defoe in for a neat finish.

After that they had to open up.

It seems our reputation is "too big" nowadays, loads of teams just shut up shop and we don't have space to use the pace of Bale and Lennon and we struggle.

We need a clever ball player for games like that, someone to create in tight spaces.

You mean someone like Sneijder?

What needs to change at home? The opposition need to be braver and attack? How will that happen whilst so many teams are happy to leave with a point?

Delighted with the victory and performance tonight. We huffed and puffed for a while but thanks to Villa's fragile confidence, their attempt to attack us, we used our attacking guile and destroyed them.

Villa are in real trouble. We are in 4th! :D

haha - I totally agree. But beware people on here may think youre moaning (sigh)

that is what bugs me if you even say anything slightly criticaal then your accused of being a brick fan

Think the thing is it is in some of our personalities to moan, i know people that just sit there if they get stuck in traffic and sing along to the radio. Me i swear punch the steering wheel and threaten to kill everyone within sight, think it sometimes scares some of the people in the back of the cab.

Second half, Villa came at us. Attacked us head on, which, considering we're built around breaking a speed, was pure suicide.
They would have done better letting us have possession and seeing what we could do with it. The minute I saw Lennon and Bale making 30, 40 yard runs, dribbling at the Villa back-line instead of around them, it felt like game over for me.
We're built to sucker-punch teams that way. But that doesn't change the seemingly powerless performances we put up when we do have the ball, which still somewhat concerns me.

Ah, well. Great hat-trick, good game, roll on Sunderland.

I just want to say I've found myself shaking my head in disbelief at some of the posts in this match thread, especially some of the posts up until half time. What do you some of you want I do not know .

70% possesion of the ball away from home and our goalkeeper smoking cigars and all I'm reading is 'Boring AVB Spurs'!

Recent dominant performances

Fulham 0 Spurs 3
Spurs 1 Swansea 0
Spurs 0 Stoke 0
Vllla 0 Spurs 4

No one amongst those of us that can see what AVB is trying to put into our play is saying we're the finished article. In fact we know we're far from it but come on , stop with this constant moaning of our team please and get a grip some of you and recognise !

Away at a resurgent Sunderland next .....COYS!

Well the whole point in going for someone like avb as opposed to old school like redknapp is that avb is meant to have different styles of play and tactics. So he needs to take his 3m a year and work out how we beat teams at home. If we could do it we would be the manager of the club not him.

Not quite the 9 i hoped for (lol), but a nice hattrick for Baaaale, great stuff. Once Defoe's went in, they were all over the shop.

Three points in the bag, on we go, COYS !!!

Let them mate.

We're utter turbo brick at home an all people have to defend our home form is lame ass OPTA stats to show otherwise. Their eyes show them we're not creating any clear cut chances, not penetrating defences and the opposition are continuously doing a job on us but opta stats say otherwise so they go with that over their eyes.

We scored a goal in the last 10 minutes for the 1st time this season.

Im glad Villa came out like they did in that first 10 mins. We'll never know now,but maybe if they had stayed like they did in the first half it might have been like the Stoke game. Happy they did though, we really needed that result. The Sunderland game just got a touch harder after their win today, they will be bouyant come Saturday.

much like the second half in this game where Villa came out to us a little more, Sunderland doing the same could potentially play in to our hands

Best mate is a sunderland fan and these games are more important to me then the arsenal ones. We can not lose to those arseholes i will not hear the end of it.

Second half we upped our pressing game, Villa made mistakes, turned over possesion and we scored. Why dont they play like in the first half? Chalk and cheese, looked like they were sleep walking!

Teams are more likely to make mistakes when they're getting tired. I'm delighted to see us show a bit of patience. We're going to need it against those that just park the bus.

Its not moaning though. But some are on their high fudgein horses here but I bet behind the laptop/PC they are screaming like us all and sharing the same frustrations. Hell I bet the players and Manager are too. Its natural - its the way to improve - to understand where youre going wrong and correct them.

We were ticka tacka with no penetration and no guile. Just passing around the box, hopeful cross to nobody, then more passing and passing. We need someone with either (1) a brain to unpick the vital pass like Naughton did today or (2) a battering ram to knock home the crosses or (3) someone that can shoot from outside the box like Siggurdssson.

Adebayor and Defoe were powder puff today and yes, I know Defoe scored.
