Also, why the two-year deal? Guy needs all the authority he can get as a relatively unproven coach coming into a dressing room as surly and snobbish as ours - this dressing room turned on two of the game's greatest winners in Mourinho and Conte.
We gave Poch a five-year deal when he was first appointed, and I remember it was in part because of that very thing - gave him a little more authority to tell our highly-paid, underperforming sods to fudge off.
Bit strange we've only gone for a 2+1, same as Conte's. Unless it's what he wanted, which may be the case.

I dont know what to make of this. It could work, or it could all go horribly wrong. I watched the Scottish cup final, really liked the way that once the score went to 2-1 Celtic pushed on for the third rather than trying to shut up shop. The players pass quickly in triangles and there are lots of forward runs being made. What was worrying though was that once they lost possession Celtic got carved apart a couple of times, a better opponent would have punished them. Looking forward to the positive football, but a bit worried at the same time.

But thats the risk of attacking football, City look vulnerable every time they lose the ball but they have quality players to get them out of brick. I would like to think our players are a tad better than Celtics players.

We have Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies, so calling them 'better than Celtic's players' is a stretch mate.
In all seriousness, we have better players but also much better opponents that will punish openness like that a *lot* more than the no-mark semipro outfits in Scotland did when Celtic lost the ball.
The first few months with this bloke are going to be an absolute nightmare of conceding cheap/easy goals as this leaden-footed lot of macarons learn to play through presses and be more front-foot. We conceded, what, 61 goals this season while sitting back like burrowing beetles for half the game ? Expect a lot more than that.
He has my support while he weathers that, but it isn't going to be pretty.
However..if he plays Dier or gives him even a minute, he deserves what he gets. That is shooting yourself in the head - and your own mistake.

Of course we're above his level, that's not arrogance - Plymouth are above his level.

Thats exactly what I fear. To be fair though Ange is no fool and does seem to be adaptable, so maybe the changes will be made gradually. I guess we all need to be patient.

I'm not overly exited about Ange, but I'm curious to see how it will pan out. Hopefully it'll be a success.
I've got no doubt of his methods and coaching ability. My main concern is that having only coached in lower end leagues with significantly lower pace, his training drills might be to slow, or rather he'll be pleased with a too low pace than what is required.
It's similar to when good players go to a lower league, they often fall down into the same pace as the rest, even though they are capable of much more.
But we'll see. I wish him good luck, and hopefully I'll be proven wrong. Nothing would please me more!

2) he can speak English well and get his message across passionately and articulately
3) fans and people who worked with him love him
Like everyone else, I'm concerned he comes from SPL but others have come from Japan / Sweden / Denmark / Croatia / wherever and done well, so that doesn't mean he will or won't succeed.
Every manager fails eventually, they all get sacked eventually, but hopefully Ange can pull the fans and club together in a bear hug and get us attacking teams with belief i.e. make it entertaining, that is the whole point of going to football.
