3rd place is not out of sight

I always believed we could get 3rd. I believed they wouldnt win at Wba but thats changed now, i think Wenger will give them a kick up the ass and they'll get 3 points. We need 2 wins.

I don't want to tempt fate. But with fulham left with nothing to play for, if we beat them and finish 3rd, it'll be great to celebrate with Martin Jol there

Too much still to play for to get over-excited just yet for me. 2 wins doesnt sound too bad, but we have been given one hell of a lifeline.
IIRC after the Norwich defeat there was the possibility of being 11pts behind Arsenal with 2 games in hand before kick-off at QPR. Cant believe we have the chance to go back 3rd with a game left.
Please please Spurs, fate has given us a second chance, please take it

Not really. Only way it'll come into play is if we get 1 win and Arsenal draw a WBA. It that cased we'd need to win by 3 more than we lose by.

Other situation would be if Arsenal lose to WBA and we get 2 draws. In that case we'd either be even on GD or would get 3rd (if Arsenal lost by more than 1-0)

You seriously don't see either scenario happening?

4 points could easily be enough. the filth look like they've turned it in for the season

Perhaps but if we're level tomorrow with 20 mins to go I'd be seriously tinkled off if we werent thrwoing people forward looking for the winner. We now have one hell of a chance...need a win tomorrow

We won't get 3rd place. So my comments right.

If you feel that why then why would you have posted this? "Feel like going back and quoting all the people that laughed when this thread was made."

What really amuses me about fans, not just ours, is how reactive they are to one off results. One bad defeat the end of the world is nigh. One great result and we're going all the way to glory

There is a reason why a team that finishes 3rd is usually not good enough to win the title. It's because they'll be plenty of games throughout the season where that team fails to get maximum points against opposition they should beat. If the team beat everyone they were "meant" to beat, they'd win the league.

It's great that Norwich have done us a massive favour, but this season isn't over yet. We have to win both remaining fixtures to be sure, but neither game is easy. No away game is easy, and as poor as they've been we'll do well to beat Villa. Fulham at home is apparently a given but we have the Jol factor to contend with and you never know how a "nothing to play for" team will play like. Sometimes they turn up disinterested and already on their holidays. Other times they turn up fearless, up for it and determined to just enjoy themselves. Likewise relegation battling teams can turn up dogged and determined, or like frightened deer in the headlights. I am hoping that in Villa's case it will be the latter because they should be safe, they probably won't go for it. That does mean we'll probably have to find a way around that parked bus though......

I wouldn't be shocked if Arsenal drew against WBA too, or if Saudi Sportswashing Machine beat City. It's going to be one hell of an end to this season!

If we don't drop points now then we've done it. It's incredible how important that 13 point lead was. We gained 6 points in 9 games on one run, and still didn't fall lower than 5th, though I hope not to speak too soon.

For me the only way Chelsea have a chance to get in to the CL next season is to beat Bayern

It's taken five or six good results before people have seriously talked about third again..

Just like when we started our slump it took three or four results before we were seriously concerned, after we had that lead on Arsenal..
