Re: 1060 pages and a striker, but 113 pages later no more Modric summer transfer thre

Should we sign Lloris - anyone else think that we shouldn't just thrust him into the starting line-up? We have the luxury of being able to ease him in, as Friedel is a very capable man between the sticks. We could play the Frenchman for League Cup games and also in Europe, and wait until he has fully settled?

Sudden change at the back can be tricky.

AVB will throw him in, whether that's good or bad we'll have to wait and see.

Anyone we sign now after the slow start we have had will have to hit the ground running, it's why most of us agree for once we'd like to be done with the transfers in before the first game of the season.

Button to Charlton official.

You'd think that would mean that we aren't getting Lloris. Surely if we were, one of Friedel, Carlo or Gomes would be leaving. Not an academy player on small wages.

Remember the Palacios video with all his action against Arsenal around his debut?
He looked awesome - Crouching Wilson, Hidden Palacios.

And then it went downhill somewhat.

I still wish Palacios would play regularly and fufill his potential.. we moved on but he's still a good player and character.

Button to Charlton official.

We really are aiming for the highest ever average age of keepers aren't we....

RE Button: Saw him play a few times and looked good but it was at championship level. I'd much rather have kept him on to try at league cup and europa league rather than keeping on high wage past it's like Carlo and Gomes, who have both looked very nervy and have both made numerous mistakes in recent times when they've played. Hopefully we have some sort of plan in terms of our GK position.

Voted Moutinho in the poll, but we are more likely to get Dembele, who is no slouch?

Surprised Carlo is still at the club, surprised we didn't tell him to tinkle off after his motorbike mishap.

I think the problem at the back is that Friedel finds sudden change tricky!

What is the source of all the Dembele talk? Does anyone know that we are actually in for him?

Yeah, that would've attracted new players for sure. :p

It's obvious we will sell Gomes, and Brad/Carlo will probably be gone by next season.

Lloris as #1, with Brad as #2 and the kid that we took on pre-season tour to US as 3rd choice is fine. Not sure what people were on with Button, never looked that great, and in the pre-season tour games and training sessions, Parks was focusing on Brad/Gomes/Carlo and other kid (young, darker complexion)

On the other hand, with three French-speaking defenders (Kaboul, Gallas and Assou-Ekotto) perhaps the communication between goalkeeper & defence might actually be better than what we've been used to.

Isn't Friedel still on his massive run of consectutive PL starts?

I wonder if he'll be given the opportunity to go if another PL club makes an offer before the deadline or if he's ready to accept his career is basically over if he stays as a back up.

(I realised it sounds a bit insensitive considering we haven't offically announced a new GK yet but you get my point)
