Euro 2016 Qualifying

Yes. We don't need him do we? ;)

Seriously, I think he's a really good forward and frankly, had we been able to pull that deal off, I think he'd have really done us proud…oh well, onwards!

BTW, I thought that was a very good England performance all told.

Just happened to be on the end of the cross? No. Timed his run, made the right run, put it away. Not with the shin either. Watch it again mate. How many times have we done that in the last few years?

I agree.

I thought it was an absurd comment myself especially as Wellbeck played erm... well haha. I thought England played well and if in my view you are not going to get any joy from watching an England game then dont bother watching. I wouldnt.

I've been really impressed with this from England, Hodgsons got it tactically spot on

a famous win

+1

I'm starting to sound like his PR guy but I fail to see all of these big mistakes he's made so far;

Won the group at Euro 2012 despite having a better side in our group and eventually lost to a superior Italy side.

Went out at the World Cup finishing 4th in the group with two better teams than us, so he slightly underachieved there but really don't know why people would have expected us to qualify from that group.

Was definitely shinned. Sterling makes that goal.

Welbeck has had opportunities far easier than that to set up fellow England players, and he's ****ed it up on two or three occasions tonight. It's also a pretty standard run for a striker to make, you wouldn't expect the striker to be anywhere else, it's hardly clever movement.

Not that a photo definitively proves a point, but tell me how this ends up off his shin? Look, I understand that you don't rate the guy, but you have to find better examples than the man moving correctly and scoring a goal. Let alone two.

EDIT: an apology of sorts, and with stipulations …it does NOT get side-footed in, but it's more off his calf/bit of shin than some lucky bounce off the front of his shin. Whenever someone says it came off his shin, the suggestion is he made lucky contact. In this case, even you would have to agree he absolutely intended contact 100%, and given his technique, managed to make the right contact to keep it low and steer the ball in.

notch above rooney.. stairs away from rvp

but hes the best finisher at arsenal now and if played centrally will get 15+ goals

hmm, I'm not really sure how a player who only got 1 league goal two seasons ago can be considered even a good finisher let alone a great one. Yes he didn't always play up front, but that's still a poor record considering he was playing for Man United, when United were actually a top side and creating plenty of chances.

has he ever played centrally for england?

Not for a long time.
And I agree.
Sadly, it will probably take a season of him banging in 15+ for the filth before people concede. again, I was gutted we didn't get him as an option for the squad...

hes been played out of position, isnt his record 10 goals in last 12 starts for man utd.. i expect him to score a shed load in his arsenal career. 100 in 220 type if he has a long career there

He couldn't score goals in a team that won the league so I don't think he will get that many more at Arsenal, remains to be seen of course. I'm far more jealous of them signing Sanchez.
