Even if they're different(they're not massively different), he was still their best player and as proven or more so than Chadli is right now. I don't see how it's a stipud comparison? Because Ruiz hasn't cut it in England and you don't want to concede that the same could happen with Chadli?

Chadli could flop in England you're right. Just like Ronaldo could have, just like Robben could have, just like Henry could have, just like Bergkamp could have. Why would I want to concentrate on him flopping though? How stupid would that be. If he becomes a Spurs player, why would I go "oh, but he might flop, what if he does!?"

i don't really understand the comparison really - so because Ruiz played for Twente and transferred to the Premier League (where he has actually been a pretty decent player for Fulham, despite not setting the world alight) this means what exactly?

Ruiz was more of a #10 for Twente and Chadli is more of a winger(although he plays central for Belgium when he can get a game), I get it, but they're still both attacking players. It doesn't matter if one is a centre back and the other a striker, they are/were both still Twente's best player and one of the Eredivisie's best. Bryan Ruiz was more experienced and cost Fulham £9.5m, did you want us to sign him at the time? If not, then I don't see why you'd have a different view on Chadli.

Lennon can never get a game for England so I don't see why not getting in the Belgian teams means much.
I didn't want us to sign Ruiz at the time no because I was never impressed with him when he played against us in the Champions League. I didn't watch too much Eredvisie back then though. It's only the past few years I have been and I have been impressed with Chadli, he impressed me in that Champions League game too when he was what? 20 years old? I have different views on Chadli because I've seen him more and he looks the better player (if comparing Ruiz at Fulham, who still isn't even a bad player)
I understand because you didn't get your favourites at Spurs and you know more than AVB and Baldini that you might not be the happiest about this transfer, but your negative flimflam is real boring.

Your basis of argument seems to be that he's a "Champions League level player", based on what by the way? And that De Boer has apparently said he's the best player in Holland(source?). Or are you a religious watcher of all things Twente Enschede? You seem to be an expert on just about every player around the world so I guess I should take that as a given.

I don't have any real strong feelings either way on Chadli, he may be amazing, he may flop, whatever. I still maintain that AVB wants particular players and Levy comes back to him with cheaper options. I'm surprised that no one else sems to be in for a 23yr old Champions League level player who is also the best in the Eredivisie for a measly £6m though.
