*** TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Wigan Athletic OMT ***

A serious question. Are there any out of contract players in Europe who could come in right now and freshen up these abysmal clueless peformances. January will be too late...................another 8 weeks of our squad as it stands and we will be in the bottom half of the table, with top 4 (yeah right !) and top 6 already gone.

Kneejerk alert!
What? Are you serious? Games like this happen, yes we were brick today but do you really think that we will plummet down the league?

As was said previously the manager will pick the team and the formation but the players have to actually play and today they didnt.

gallas has been alright yeah not to bad, dempsey has been his usual self

not sure if it is all the players fault or the coach....

where is the formation they all look lost

I just think every time we look like being remotely settled, we've lost important players this season at one time or another. Today it was Sandro, and with our injuries, we cannot really afford that. We're also effectively playing with three defenders given Walker's alarmingly poor form!!!! It's baffling that one. Dempsey's got great effort but sadly not the guile necessary for the role he's currently playing, and Sigurdsson has the potential skill and guile but not the confidence; that' a massive problem. It was easy for Wigan today because they could simply mark the wide men out of it/force them inside and defend the middle. No Dembele is a massive massive thing...of course, I still pine for Modric, but I'd better let that one go eh!!!!

Without Parker, Dembele...VDV or Modric, we'll struggle. We're not at the races in midfield and are not able to pass the ball through the middle. We rely on moving the ball down the wing.

I hope Levy was watching that. Sigh. Turns out we didn't have a good window after all, because when the one man you buy to replace Luka Modric gets injured, bad things inevitably happen.

trying to figure this out myself

The one thing I can say for Dempsey right now (and I agree he has not been great) is that he is NOT hiding and he IS trying/working/putting in a shift. If Sig had his drive and work-rate, he'd walk in ahead of him.

As I've said before, love Levy and his work but failing to get Moutinho (the one player above all others AVB wanted) was a massive, massive dropped gonad*...

I thought Wigan played really well today.
You can't just moan about our performance as if there was only one team on the pitch out there.
We wont be the only top 6 team to lose points to them at home this season.

I'm an AVB supporter, I feel sorry for the position Levy has put him in and feel he needs time, but he made a ratarded decision taking Defoe off. So negtaive.

Anyways, the game confirms to me what a lot of games have confirmed to me

- DEFOE DOES NOT WORK ON HIS OWN. NOT EVER!!!!!!
- Sig and Dempsey have a long way to improve to be even remotely good enough for our team
- Gallas, while has his amazing displays, simply isn't good enough anymore on a consistent level. He's been repsonsible for so many goals this season and he can barely play it out, he doesn't offer enough. Veronghen and Caulker should play!
- Dembele is the only player we have that can play in the middle and make us effective. That's worrying. Levy is a **** for fudging the mouthino transfer up. We're so lacking in the middle.
- Friedel shoudl be dropped. He's a great shot stopper but his distribution is terrible and he stays on his line too much.

Ultimately our team would have a big change just adding Ade and Lloris to the starting 11. Get Demebele back and we'll look excellent.

I must admit I do try to be positive at times like this BUT, i remember a saying my old dad used to come out with.. "If you aint got nothing good to say..say nowt"

Well that had been coming. The discussion in the "performances" thread were based around results being quite good but with those sort of performances, you normally come crashing back down.

I dont know why AVB isn't changing things based on poor performances, rather than letting the results hide the problems which he must have spotted.

56mins on the clock, your 1-0 down against a bottom 6 side, your playing with one upfront. You decide on a substitution to get you back into the game, you take off your striker who's in form and the clubs top scorer, for a striker whos just coming back from injury.

I cant explain that

True that. And he was closer to scoring than say Defoe. Or as close as Bale cam today. He's new to the team, hasn't had an easy goal to settle the nerves. Give him a fudging break.

There is a need to blame someone/ something. Lost players and injuries is probably the most logical.

For me the signings of Siggurdson and Dempsey were knee jerk signings. Both of them were one season wonders with their respective clubs. I honestly hope they were short termers and that they will be going the other way in the new year (unlikely I know but I can dream.)

Is anyone surprised when you've got a bloke in charge who sacks any manager who is successful, replaces them with people who have no/torrid experiences in English football, sells your best players and replaces them with mid-table junk? Why does he deserve so many chances to screw this club over?

Slightly dramatic, but his transfer dealings have definitely cost us for a few years now. How he does it time and time again is baffling, fudging dogs learn!
