**OMT Tottenham vs Everton**

I have an opinion on Pickford, he wouldn’t be a terrible replacement for Hugo.

Yes he has flaws, but similar ones, and similar strengths, if they go down he might be cheap, he’s young for a keeper still.

We could absolutely do better of course.

I just wrote a long rant about why I hate Pickford so much but then I deleted it because its probably unnecessary to post lol

...He does annoy me very, very much though!

I agree.
The point I am making is that unless that third midfielder knows the system, it becomes an extra body sitting in containment mode. PEH and Bents won’t push on unless they are sure there is coverage.
The point I am making is that the third midfielder is mostly sitting in front of defence, breaking up play. Bissouma and Skipp are good at that. It does not take 10 weeks to learn the intricacies of that role, and we should have played that way for a few weeks now.

that is probably the most positionally important and deciplined/difficult role. So yeah I can believe it take more than 10 weeks to learn it.

No problem playing bissouma and having 3 in midfield. Also like playing kulu though.

The thing that makes me laugh is people make out as if taking a penalty is easy. It is harder to score one than your standard chance, with the amount of build up and pressure involved….
It's not easy, but you can't compare with your standard chance. Penalty has an xG of 0.79. Your standard chance only about 0.10.

wasn't a good win - could have gone behind in the first half. but certainly turned it around slightly after half time, but emphatically after richy went off. blessing in disguise, injuries forcing conte to go 352 with bissouma
players suddenly looked lively and playing instead of overthinking. still a problem when kulu gets fit!
last 3 subs could have come on earlier - don't think moura or spence touched the ball
Turned it around slightly? What game were you watching? We didn't allow a single shot in the second half. And we created more than enough chances to score at least a couple. I'd take a performance like that anytime.

suprised you didn't notice the impact of the formation change after richy went off. well it was huge to me.
given a better team we would have been punished in the first half. maybe we have different expectations and I adjust mine according to the opponents. we shouldn't be giving a team like everton a sniff at goal.

despite the win and much higher possession in the 2nd half though - our duels and interceptions rate wasn't great. better teams would capitalize turnovers much better than everton can. (aerials won shows how good their defenders were in repelling all the crosses we threw at them).

Good to get another win and a good performance. Thought the change in formation mattered less than some on here, we came out flying in the second half before the change too. We've seen our before, averageish first half, turn it up in the second. Had played well in the first half to tire them. But good to see us play well with a midfield three, we need that option I think. Particularly if Richarlison is now out for a while.

Very different game to most our games, Everton really parked the bus and looked mostly poor. Got a couple of chances on the break, it happens, but poor moments from us. Other than that we were really solid and mostly dominant.

Great to see such a quality performance from Bissouma. Doherty very good as well, particularly second half. Hug and comments from Conte would indicate that we'll see a lot more from him going forward.

I found the first half completely and utterly boring after the first 10 minutes. We seemed to have ideas, and just went for crossed which Everton dealt with quite easily. We lacked verve, and the pace of play was way too slow to break down Everton's massed ranks. The formation change made all the difference, suddenly Bentancur could push right up and it allowed him and Hojberg to pass in far more dangerous areas. The 352 is definitely a system i'd like to see more of but of course we need to pick systems depending on the opposition and on the personnel we have available.

Poor mans Hilario Gomez. I think he's dreadful. I don't understand why he's anywhere close to the England team with Henderson and Johnstone around

Kulu is just light years ahead of everyone down his side
But without him we can’t play that set up

I think this is basically on the money.

343 doesn’t really work unless Kulu is playing. Probably why we want Zaniolo as another Kulu type.

That being said we were awful in the 343 with Kulu against Leicester Town. Could that have been mainly due to Perisic at rwb who didn’t look comfortable there?
