Given that Sweden basically avoided lock down, by the denier's logic, surely they should have done a whole lot better. Instead the deniers are putting the lame argument of "look they did 1 or 2% better than countries that had a complete lock down."

Some travellers have been left frustrated and out of pocket after changing their flights home to England to avoid a potential Portugal quarantine that now hasn’t been imposed.

"We feel as if we've lost two days of our holiday, it's cost us an arm and a leg - we're just very disappointed," Karen said as she waited to board a plane at Faro airport.

There has been confusion over whether people need to quarantine for 14 days after returning to the UK from Portugal or Greece.

There are strict new self-isolation rules for people from Wales and Scotland coming back from Portugal. But there is no change for England and Northern Ireland as yet.

"We've paid just over £1,000, I think, for three going back to Manchester," said another passenger, Ron, adding: "It would be good if governments could all get together... and come up with one set of policies which are applied reasonably consistently."

Kelly Jones and her family changed their flights home from the Algarve from Saturday to Friday at a cost of £900.

The 45-year-old from Birmingham said the situation was "absolutely disgusting".

She said: "The government just changes the goalposts left, right and centre at the moment. It's embarrassing."

Once again no confusion here, unless you don't realise what country you're from. The government decide on a Thursday always have. If you decide to go away the risk is known.

But hey.... you're so desperate for a holiday...:rolleyes:

There's no need for drastic taxation...

The appetite for government bonds is good, (despite tinkle poor returns, even negative believe it or not) and central banks are on board to 'create ' more money.

And what they don't shift can just be 'owned" by the BofE (also now alongside corporate bonds:rolleyes:)

It's all gonad*s of course and just shaking that magic money tree:D...just as long as no-one has to face up to or suffer any pain. (Which in this case could be justifiable)

I think anyone who has rushed into going away so soon after the pandemic has to take some responsibility for this happening to them.
 
Isn't it voluntary isolation anyway?

Also, why wouldn't anyone holidaying in France just fly home from Germany or Italy?

A holiday abroad is exactly what I'm looking at right now. Two weeks leave coming up, I have no idea where to go but I am craving somewhere that isn't here, and somewhere where I have a pretty good chance of sun and little rain.
We are of course are fully aware of the quarantine risks and have left making a decision until as close as possible to try to assess the risk of any particular destination, although that's fairly difficult to do. There are just the two of us, we are wfh now anyway, if we do go abroad the freezer will be stocked up before we go, there'll be a supermarket delivery arranged for when we get back, and family/friends lined up for anything that needs to be bought in the interim. It will be a pain and an inconvenience, but it's manageable.
The challenge is actually finding somewhere short-haul that we like the look of.
 
Went on vacation last week, needed it, my job isn't hard or stressful in relation to many others, but I was drained.
 
Have just been away for two nights in a city break. I live in the countryside anyway, very refreshing to see new sights and people. More than enough for me I am looking forward to getting home shortly.

We now have another weeks leave. Looking sunny and warm so we will take a few day trips out.

With quarantine decision day being Thursdays, If you leave on a Friday or Saturday and just do 5/6 days there is no risk.
