Yup, the worrying thing is we never usually see quotes from our squad unattributed like this. Players are talking, and I can imagine that fudges Poch off no end.
Something really is breaking here. The doubts are creeping in. I’m quite worried, and I don’t know how this comes back to normal in September.

Probably because the players usually don’t talk anonymously to the press like they are doing now. Even when we’ve had bad runs of form before, or a slow start to a season, everything has still felt tight.

He's now going to encounter players, agents, supporters etc with a completely different mindset and expectations of him then there was before.
It'lll take some time to adjust and I hope he does, if he can't no way is he ready to take on a Tier 1 management job, it'll crush him. He's at the perfect place to make the transition to a top top manager with us.
Part of that will be to cultivate a ruthless streak, it's easy with troublemakers but I'm talking about dropping underperformers who he loves, playing those he doesn't cause it's for the best, the real trenches stuff.

There was always going to be transition. Personally Im a big fan of Sanchez and I think he'll be fine, but of course it takes games to find consistency etc.
However - that defensive contribution ahead of the defence - thats the real critical part for me.
Our defence is regularly completely exposed, because the team ahead just isnt working properly. And it looks bad as a result.
In years past our defence didnt have half as much to get right to look twice as good...

These stories only ever come out when a club is going through a bad patch which leads me to think most of the time at least its just a load of speculative gonads....
The frustrating this is that I can totally understand there being issues if we hadn’t finished top 4, and/or hadn’t got to the CL final (in such dramatic fashion no less), and/or hadn’t invested in the squad, and/or hadn’t finished the stadium. But we did all of those things, and so this should be the season where we have renewed momentum and energy! Is it just the Eriksen and Vertonghen situations that have sowed the seeds of wider decay?

You mean the quotes from “anonymous sources” are really from the voice in the back of the journalists head that happens to corroborate whatever story they decide to write.
It’s obvious something is wrong but these stories are nothing but guesswork.

The manager "coach" has changed and has been found out sadly not "major player" material.
This was best illustrated by the lack of fire in the belly of the players in CL final. Yes bad/terrible start but they all looked ill-prepared and muddled in their attitude.
As much as it upsets me to say it, I'm brassed of watching the lack of fire in the belly of our squad.
Klopp (spit) said best for me "I want them to go out there angry".
