Did you see Dortmund’s result at the weekend?

Would be like us losing to Cardiff

To me they gave up in that second half and I think their desperate to get the league title under their belt

An early goal for them and anything could happen - including them really opening up and us scoring an away goal.

An early goal for us would be incredible. Would take a huge amount of pressure off and likely let us manage the game.

An early goal for them would likely induce panic in the team considering the last week imo.

I think we're going through but just need to be mindful of those early stages.

I am not happy that Poch is again complaining that Dortmund has had an extra 24 hrs to prepare for this game. He is rapidly turning into a Moaning Minnie. Most un-Poch-like. Why is he "doing a Klopp" ?

Surely much better for the team to say nothing rather than put a ready made excuse in their minds. Not impressed by this from him at all.

This is one of those things where I cant help wondering if you are actively looking for things to complain about.

He is trying to make some noise so the Premier League sit up and take note, and then look after us a bit.

Thats all. He is trying to benefit the team. And its really not unreasonable either.

We, as a CL club, bring a brick tonne of money in for them, its is in their interest to be flexible around fixtures etc to give us the best possible chance of continuing to represent them well.

And for us, and extra days rest can make all the difference in our preparation, performance and injury prevention.

How dare he try and protect his players, what an absolute disgrace...

... have a look at yourself mate.

I think @Pirate55 has a point; Poch raised this before when we played Dortmund after having played Leicester on a Sunday afternoon kickoff, whilst Dortmund played on the Saturday (or it may even have been Friday). To raise it then was maybe fair enough.

To raise it now seems very odd, when
a) we could not have had our arsenal game moved any earlier -we played on Wednesday at Chelsea, could the FA really have moved our big game at home to Arsenal to a Friday night with only 2 days in-between??

b) we had a 10 day break between the last Dortmund game and our next league game, at btw since that break we have played like brick; are we going to blame the FA for that as well?

c) we are 3-0 up FFS with the best chance we could have imagined to go through, so it should all be moot anyway!

Poch has never been one to complain constantly like say, Jose, and it just seems odd for him to bring this issue up before the game has been played, especially given the above.
It would have been fine after the tie, perhaps nearer the end of the season as a point of reflection for the PL.
To bring it up now, however just smacks of 'getting in your excuses early' and is not something we have been accustomed of Poch: i mean if Klopp had brought this up and had the same circumstances i mean how would you all have talked about him then?

This has made Poch come across as moany as Jose or Klopp ever would have and it's just unneccesary given the circumstances. Very unlike Poch tbh

Just wonder if Poch is raising the issue now to get more time to prepare if we progress to the quarter finals. Will be interesting to see if Pep and Klopp also come out with the same message.

Yes, possibly...but the FA could say, "well, mate perhaps we should reduce the time, after all you had 10 days before Burnley and played brick; if we give you more time you play brick and might mess up our co-efficient":D

Seriously, though mentioning it after the game especially if we progressed would be fine. But i cannot see what the FA could have done for this specific game: move the Arsenal match to Friday??

I'm sorry but can anyone outline what EXACTLY the FA can/could do?
Clubs are happy to take the extra TV cash so cannot complain above matches being moved.

But in the recent weeks what exactly could the FA have done?

england do revel in making it harder for their teams, too many games, too close together, no winter break and more physical. is it any wonder at the end of the season they are all knackered.

True, but none of those clubs want winter breaks or reduced number of PL matches by making the PL just 18 teams.
Whenever the FA have suggested such things the clubs say no, so it's a bit rich for them to complain about scheduling especially when the refuse these suggestions because they want to continue raking in the most profits from TV etc that the PL has been for years now..

I would be happy to see the league taken down to 18 teams, may improve the standard.

Agreed. It certainly would allow for more gaps between games during the season (though of course, how many of those 'breaks' will simply involve trips to the Middle East/America to promote the clubs etc:D)

The league would have really missed Huddersfield and Fulham this season!

Think you could just get rid of a couple of the mid week games or 1 at Xmas and it’s sorted

Might help the FA cup as well.

Would personally restructure the whole league - it’s madness teams with tiny budgets are expected to go the length of the country. Crawley V Carlisle ?

Maybe the NLD could have been postponed, but that's probably the only thing that could have been done to improve things for us. Part of the problem is surely that there's no incentive for the PL clubs to help one another in that respect; in fact, quite the opposite -- they're happy to see others struggle. Why was the Manchester derby shifted?
