***Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa OMT***

Any official team news yet ?

Feel a bit nervous about this match. Fortunately, there will be less attention on us due to the Saudi Sportswashing Machine-ManU match coming at the same time. But after beating ManU away, everyone will be looking at how we do in this match. Let's hope the team won't disappoint us and beat Villa !

Should be a good win for us today. We are on decent form, at home, and improving all the time. Villa are playing bad and morale is low.

Yes, we might lose or draw. But quite why anyone would honestly predict anything but a win right now is baffling.

It just has an air of inevitability about it. We've seen Spurs do it so many times before after a big win.

February 2012: Spurs 5-0 Saudi Sportswashing Machine, a week later - we draw with Stevenage Borough.

May 2011: Liverpool 0-2 Spurs, followed by a brick performance at home to Birmingham in which they had equalised and would have held on for a point if they hadn't needed another goal to stay up and sent everyone forward in the last minute for us to score on the counter attack

February 2011: AC Milan 0-1 Spurs. A week later, we lost to a Blackpool side who had previously taken one point from their last six games.

November 2010: Spurs 3-1 Inter Milan, next game - we lose and concede 4 away to Bolton
Later that month: Arsenal 2-3 Spurs, Spurs 3-0 Werder Bremen, Spurs 2-1 Liverpool...3 strong wins on the bounce. Then we went to Birmingham who got relegated that season, played brick, and dropped points

May 2010: Spurs 2-1 Arsenal, Spurs 2-1 Chelsea, Emirates Marketing Project 0-1 Spurs...then we let a 2 goal lead slip to already relegated Burnley and lose 4-2.

March 2009: We beat Villa at Villa Park when they were in the top 4, followed it up by being the only team to beat Chelsea under Hiddink....and then lost to a dogbrick Blackburn side

November 2008: Having just scored 4 at the Emirates to earn a late point, then beating Liverpool who were top of the league and hadn't lost in any competition, to then beating Emirates Marketing Project away...then we lost to Fulham.

February 2008: A fantastic cup final win over Chelsea was followed by...a 4-1 loss to Birmingham, who got relegated that season

November 2006: A first league win over Chelsea in 16 years was followed by...a 3-1 loss to Reading.

You get the picture. We have a habit of winning a big game then fudging up the easier game that follows. I'm off to put some money on Villa and a draw.

The negativity of people on here is absolutely astounding. I hope none of you are going to the game today.

4-0 we'll go third and everything is amazing in the world.

Or lloris starts and drops a flanger and we lose 1-0.

Nice research, but your argument has a a fatal flaw..we already had our bad(ish) result on Thursday.

Were poor and were 5th, fudge knows where we will be when we hit the straps, look at the true top clubs they have ground out results year in year out when playing not to their potential, its a sign were getting there
Absolutely. We are only 1 point behind what we had at this stage last year when we were cooking on gas and a win today puts us on 14 points which is 1 more than after 7 last season.
We have won 3 games on the trot in the EPL and a win today makes it 4 in a row. Villa have won about 3 games in their last..what 20?

Good point. The wins back on.

Would love a convincing win, enough to go above Everton, but I suppose at the end of the day a scrappy 2-1 will do

Defoe's 30th birthday today isn't it? Would be nice for him to celebrate by getting his 200th goal

Team is as expected
Lloris, Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen, Dembele, Sandro, Lennon, Bale, Dempsey and Defoe
