the play maker in the team. he has great technique and vision and probably a better passer of the ball than Modric. He can play central midfield and can actually play on either wing too but I wouldn't put him there just like I wouldn't put Modric there yet we have put him out there in the past. He was quite clearly Roma's best player last season in a very very disappointing year for them. The only problem I may see with him is the physicality of the English game, he does get pushed around a lot but at 22 he is worth a gamble, potentially better than Moutinho who is about 3 years older and cheaper too.

Cool, cheers - looks an interesting prospect

Looking at the YouTube vid, he seems to be fearless and quite confident in his skills. Dodging tackles and challenges with megs and tekkers. Love those types!

AVB rules out Defoe exit

Striker gets assurances from Spurs chief

Defoe has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer after finding his starts limited last season.

The 29-year-old is the only senior striker on Spurs' books at present and he scored in their opening day defeat at Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Defoe has raised concerns over his future if he is not playing regularly, but Villas-Boas has assured the England international he remains pivotal to his plans despite his desire to bring in another striker.

"Jermain accepts that we are looking for one more striker because the team is in need of that, but when we have them all together the quality of the player is tremendous."

Andre Villas-Boas on Jermain Defoe Quotes of the week

"He always has this killer instinct. He scored in midweek for his country, scored for us during pre-season and again here," said Villas-Boas.

"He is showing that touch that we need up front. Jermain accepts that we are looking for one more striker because the team is in need of that, but when we have them all together the quality of the player is tremendous.

"It is a different situation for him now. I have nothing to do with anything that happened in the past. He is our striker, is playing extremely well, is full of confidence and has been deadly in front of goal."

I'm happy with Defoe staying but would like us to get in a RWF as well as Ade if we can. Sturridge/Moses or similar?

We wont be. Every transfer window is like this - we all realise what type of player the 'nice to have' signings would be however we typically do the bare minimum

As I've said before, I dont blame Levy as the stadium is far more important however we still kid ourselves that the current window will be a stonker. It wont. We'll be getting a creative CM and a CF

Hopefully then in 3-4 years we can make bigger moves. Just hope that we start on the stadium soon so that it doesnt get delayed further.........

Dzeko set to leave #MCFC if Jovetic deal completed. Adebayor to#THFC is now all but done & City in talks to offload Santa-Cruz.

Modric was a amc before we bought him. Bale was LB.

Players adapt and grow...atleast some of them ;)

Modric played as a central midfielder for Croatia in the Euro 2008 tournament the summer we signed him. Kranjcar had the amc role. I have no idea where he played for Zagreb though.

Bale played both as a left back and as a left winger for Southampton I believe, his first game (start) for us was as a left winger.

Players adapt and grow though, that I agree with.
