Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

No deal could (would?) change the numbers re. a confidence vote imo.
I could probably count on one hand the number of Conservative MPs who think Corbyn would be less damaging to the country than a no deal Brexit, and they'd be right.

That situation hasn't changed from a few weeks ago - in order to find a middle ground, both leaders will have to go, along with those who support them.

Anyways...they are going to have another go on Monday, with some of the options narrowed down, and see where the votes lay again.

Watching the MPs results live, its clear some of the MPs are half cut. What a shambles. We 'took back control' to have this lot run things? Does the problem lie with the EU or our own?
If they were carrying out the will of their constituents (as they're supposed to) then it wouldn't matter who or what they are.

Speculation on the coverage that some of that support might fall back away now that the DUP have given a final (?) no on it.
The DUP were never, ever going to go for it - it's preposterous to think they ever might. May was always going to need Labour moderates to stand up against their dictator to win.

I don't see there being quite enough of those to balance out the combined numbers of the DUP and the ERG hold-outs. And if they're going to be particularly narrow-minded, they might prefer to keep May in situ anyway.

SNP not voting for any kind of soft-Brexit, even though Sturgeon in the recent past has indicated a willingness to go down that route. Customs Union could get a majority with SNP votes, or close to it, right?

Media needs to start calling the SNP out on their bullsh1t here -- fair enough they want to remain and have a 2nd ref, but no reason not to back other options as a backup to that.

Isn't that logical for a remain perspective? Soft Brexit just equals being in the EU with less control and input. Why back that? Leaves everyone unhappy.

This is what a 2nd ref/people's vote is up against currently:

Cabinet abstained and Labour were whipped, if the cabinet vote then it would lose by even more votes.

Should have been free votes all round really then we might see how the results differed. Looks like MV3 will be defeated unless a few Labour decide it's time to get on with it and move over. If it is then probably end up with permanent customs union, shame the EU wouldn't allow a customs union just for goods though to be fair they said the 4 freedoms couldn't be separated.

This needs calling off. The legacy of the effect on the people is too great

Parliament is too divided, all the options have negative support numbers.

Both of the major parties are internally divided and risk breaking themselves apart.

Individuals are playing games to promote their own agenda

There are too many options that MP's don't want to take but might have to because they're told to or forced to.

ALL TO THE DETRIMENT OF US.

A GE would most probably end in a hung/minority government and probably end up just walking down the same path again (lab or con)....there's no rabbits out of hats here.

Seriously unimpressive...the lot of em.

Lessons have been learnt....we revoke, see how flexible we can be within the existing EU framework....new blood and some inspirational politicians (fingers crossed),ie do a Poch

Then 5-10 years down the line, take stock and, being that the public will be more switched on to the realities of the EU, if we still hate the relationship, tell them to do one. Even No Deal might be palatable with decent foresight.

Brexit is going really well. What a great bunch of people we have 'running' the country. Makes me want to watch this again:
