OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester *** 22/08/2015 3pm

Good point Parklane1. Yes we have given soft goals away but it's early on in the season ask we could have lost all 3 games but have only lost 1. The margin for error and success in this league is so close that we could have been in top 4 but we are languishing in bottom half. We have played some decent football and some awful football.

We have addressed players that are brick and no longer required at the club and moved on and are trying to bring in new players ands have done so already.

Everyone on here expects to win and I expected us to lose yesterday to despite being one nil up and stupidly conceding I would have taken a point before the game. It seems we are playing well in periods of the game and lack that killer edge.

Njie is going to add pace to the game which will hopefully help us when we are under pressure and there will be new signings in the next week.

Alli looks like he is going to be a beast of a player and he's only made two subs appearances.

We have Rose to come back and trippier to hopefully come in and replace walker or make Walker a better player and maybe, just maybe we will add Berahino who will also get us some goals along with Kane's.

Work in progress people, work in progress.

Really annoyed we failed to win this match. After the disappointing draw with Stoke, this was another 2 valuable points we dropped. Can see this coming back to affect us later in the season. This was a match we should have won as we beat them home and away last season. Instead, we were very fortunate to escape with the draw. Annoyingly, we failed to win despite leading for the second match in a row, both times conceding goals in the last 10 mins. And Spurs must be the only team to concede as soon as they score !

We only seem to win when Kane scores ! And we have only won 1 out of the last 15 matches in which Kane failed to score. Unfortunately for us, Kane doesn't look like scoring now. Credit to Alli for getting his first goal for us after coming on to replace Lamela. The performance by Alli seems to be our only positive thing so far in the season. Maybe Alli should start the next game after scoring his first goal for us.Annoyingly for us, we couldn't even had time to celebrate Alli's goal as our defence let Leicester score immediately ! Chadi did well to create the goal for Alli but he should have scored the one-on-one chance early in the second half.

This match proves yet again that we need a defensive midfielder to protect our defence when needed. Our midfield looks so weak and vulnerable at the moment. Annoyingly, we couldn't even dominate shyte teams like Leicester nowadays. Not sure if Eriksen would have made any difference as he is out-of-form nowadays. Pochettino did well to start Lamela but he never made any impact on the game. Dembele had a decent game early on when he had a 2 shots on goal. But apart from that, he hardly had any influence in the game. Mason and Dier had another error-prone game in midfield. Was worried when when we brought on the error-prone Bentaleb late on but fortunately he didn't have much time to make an error !

Our defending is getting worse under Pochettino all the time. We have now conceded goals in the last 10 mins for the second match in a row. And both times, we were leading but had to settle for a draw. Vertonghen and Alderweireld seems to be making too many mistakes now. Alderweireld gave away the stupid penalty against Stoke. Now, Vertonghen should have done better for Leicester's goal. He should have never gave that much space for the Leicester player to shoot into goal. Maybe Lloris should have reacted faster as well. It was disappointing to concede the goal from that narrow angle. Not sure what Pochettino is going to do to improve our defence.

So, we are still winless after 3 matches of the season. I think the pressure will be on Pochettino to get our first win against Everton at home next week.

One of the main problems we have when it comes to defending is the three behind Kane just do not do enough. Last week Eriksen failed to pick up a runner who subsequently crossed for diouf's equaliser. Today it was Chadli. this overloads the full backs and pulls the centre backs apart. This needs addressing and not by buying more defenders.

I've been saying this for over a year

Even the poor sides put in a shift

Vardy yesterday ran his socks off in defence and attack and it makes up for his limitations

As I said on another thread watching us is like watching soft porn, it's very pretty but lacks the penetration

The problem we have is to achieve that penetration you needs creativity which we are lacking, variety which we are lacking and to force the mistake which aimed from hard work and pressing which were lacking.... There's a trend here

And lacks the real passion and hard work as well !;)

Firstly your wrong verts was holding first - he then goes through the plyer to get a nick on it. Awful defending.

Just cause your a Spurs fan does not mean you have to constantly defend our plauers and game reviews. We are poor today and we look a very average side right now

It was a stonewall pen.

Got away with one there, as we did with Dembele not being red carded.

Looked to me like it was as much a foul on Vertonghen as it was on the LC player - would have been harsh if given

Kane was dribbling past 3 men whilst 3 others hung off his back, he was triple marked at all times, which led to our goal.
This. If that's all he does the entire season he'll be a huge success opening up space for others. And at some point teams will need to adjust, so that'll give him some space again. But we need another credible threat for that to happen and hopefully we'll get him in the next couple of weeks.

Agreed. Thought the Leicester player pulled Vertonghen's shirt first that time. Not sure how people can say that was a stonewall penalty. It looked 50-50 challenge to me.

That's how I saw it as well, six of one and half a dozen of the other. And that is the way the ref saw it as well.

It's why I think the TV angles scew the decision

If the red had 360 vision and TV replays like we have then it would be an easier call

From where he was its was a harsh call to give a pen IMO

So I watched the game on stream and would rather have waited until some of the fans on here who were actually at the game to get a good handle of what actually went on at the game. For that I am grateful that @paxtonwolf has given his view.

For what it is worth, here is my take. We were decidedly average. I agree with what some other posters have said with regards to the play taking us back to the AVB days without Bale. Too many of our players put in below-par performances and that's just not great. I share the frustration with posters here who were not happy with the performance as it looked laboured, and just not really nice to watch. We dominated posession without actually looking dangerous with it which says a lot as to how the opposition was prepared to play.

But now for the balance. Despite this really lacklustre performance, we drew the game. Sometimes at these times, I go onto the opposite teams message boards to get a feel for how they are feeling. The majority of them are happy with the result, with only a few thinking that they should have won. Some of them felt a little lucky! The telling quote from one of them was "They dominated possession but didn't really create an awful lot. We looked more dangerous throughout but didn't actually create much! What a goal from Riyad once again. He is stupidly good!" That I feel is the fair summary of the game.

Poch, to his credit, is angry as well http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34030307. His analysis is fair and balanced, and that gives me some comfort that he knows that it is not good enough and so will address the points accordingly.

I'd say my ratings are well summarised by the following http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...-ratings-leicester-city-1-1-spurs_241131.html. Perhaps I'd give Jan a 5 instead of the 6.

We have two weeks and a bit left of the transfer window for us to address weaknesses in the team and to bring in a bit of freshness and perhaps, dare I say, feel good factor. I think we are unanimous in our view that we need 2-3 signings, which is about the only thing that we all seem to agree on.

So where to go from here? We could all gnash our teeth, complain about how **** Lamela, Vertonghen, Mason, Davies, Poch et al were. We can bitch and moan and argue amongst each other as to just how crap we were. Hell, we can even argue with one another about whether we have serious relegation fears. It will make not one bit of difference. What I can see is that we are a very young team, and this lot needs to get that experience. They have, for the most part, quite a bit of potential and my mind is not going to be changed in the first 3 games of the season. We were not lucky to finish where we did last season.

This is where fans will need to decide what type of fan they want to be. The one that offers constructive criticism but at the same time is behind the team or the one that offers nothing but criticism. There's no right or wrong, but I know which side of the fence I want to be on. I know it's just a message board, but no one gets enjoyment from just constant petulant arguing with one another. It is possible to have a debate without arguing, name-calling or just being incredibly dismissive of another person's view.

All I ask is that people show a little balance and respect one another. OTT comments on either side are likely to rile one another and just make people not want to post. We are afterall suffering from the same ailness and that is supporting Spurs on a day that we really wanted the team to do better. It could be worse, we could be West Ham!

Great post. Far too sensible....

Spot on re: opposition fans. We stayed behind after the match as we were in the Holiday Inn next to the ground. They were certainly very happy with a point and does not surprise me in the least to read what they said on their forum.
Re: our support at the match. Singing was top notch, again, but a little disappointed with the minority who chucked bottles at the home fans after the equaliser, we don't need to stoop to that level. Loved the reaction we gave Alli when he came on, must have really made him buzz. Hope Kane doesn't get jealous.....

From the refs angle it a margin call

From the side and behind its a pen

I agree; Vertonghen's got form for the odd sneaky challenge. His tug on the back of Mahrez's shirt was the first offence, but he made sure the ref couldn't see it, or else I think it might well have been a different decision. Only the lino might have been in a position to give it.

I can't understand why we keep expecting our AMs to defend - and also blame them for not assisting Kane enough. This all comes down to our stupid use of 4231 without the players to implement it. If Poch is insistant on using that formation come what may, then we need two dedicated DMs to protect the back four and let the AMs display their flair in an attacking context. At the moment we are neither one thing or the other. Result - hopeless at both.

Dembele red carded? For what? He gave away 2 free kicks all match, none of them was anywhere near a yellow card. Hardly free kicks at all, and he got booked for protesting.
