***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs KAA Gent***

Poch is obviously not a motivator. It really is time for the hairdryer treatment.

We really aren't as good as we think we are. Kane, Dele and Sissoko clueless up front. We desperately need some inspiration from somewhere

Well it wasnt in the realms of shocking, but it was a well-below-average performance, and another 45mins without a goal from open play.

It appears we are trying to come away with a result while using the least amount of effort as possible. Play like this v Fulham on Sunday, and you can kiss the FA Cup goodbye as well

Well that was a blast! Gent are no pushover here. We have defended well and kept a good shape. We've made the better chances, just not quite 'there' in the first half but I could still see us clicking second half.

For the same reason we're too good for the first round of the FA Cup - if you make the talent play all the small teams then they're not motivated and you get a rubbish competition.

With all due respect to Spurs - who said we are talent? We have a name built by the teams who won championships and dealt with the 'small' and 'big' teams alike. The current squad wearing the jersey have done nothing yet to improve the name yet they wanna feel they are too good. Hell NAH!!

Good thing I suppose is the Gent don't look any good either so if we can pick up the pace a bit we should get the result

Then the Spurs players need to be mentally checked. Gent or Ghent might just be coming up but the team is full of international players and they got to the same phase as Spurs in the Europa. WTF have the Spurs players won to give them that arrogant mentality?
They got to the same stage by winning two out of six in the Wafer Cup group stage. We got there by qualifying for the CL.

Gent look sharper, more deliberate and decisive. We look very hesitant. Inexperienced ref, missing all the shirt tugging on Dembele all the time; it's all set up for him to get mugged into a game-changing decision for them, isn't it. Is Janssen ill or something or just being saved for the weekend?

Meh

After twelve seconds it was evident we thought we could jog around

This is HUGE for Gent; we need to change up three gears

So we should get a bye to the semis?

We haven't been close to winning the EL/UEFA cup for years.

As someone else said, if that's the mindset of our players we won't win anything.

This is also Gents stiffs

You mean by dropping out of the CL. Watch PSG, Barca et al. You think this Spurs side is good enough to hang with those big boys? You think if they face Gent - motivation is an issue?

Even UEFA, who run the competition, parachute us into it halfway through.

Typical dull half of Purgatory League football. Watch us narrowly get through then get knocked out in the next round and just do enough either this season or next season to qualify for the last 32 this time next year. Rinse and repeat.'

Not a great watch. I suppose we've been solid enough defensively as they haven't had any clear goalscoring opportunities, but on the other we do look like we are trying to give them some by losing the ball in our own half. Going forward we have been terrible. We desperately lack tempo, movement and creativity, and Kane, who has done a decent job, is isolated up front. Alli and Sissoko are playing out of position and not doing well. I'm not sure what is Sissoko's position, but it's certainly not on the right side even though he always plays there for us. Walker has been terrible. Wanyama and Dembele have both been poor. Winks has been our best player and the only one who looks comfortable in possession out there.

I think we need some more creativity and some quicker feet and would bring on Eriksen and Son for Sissoko and Wanyama/Dembele and play 4-2-3-1. We never play well in this 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation.

Probably difficult to get motivated for a nothing match, against a team none of us had ever heard of, in the sixth most important competition we've been in this season.

It's the job of the coach to motivate the players. Seems this is an Achilles heel for Poch ATM.
