Some quite disrespectful responses here. Facts are that when Lennon isn't fit VDV starting from wide right with Modric off the front man, Bale left, Parker and Sandro in midfield has been successful.

Disagree. Redknapp tried playing Modric a few times last season as you suggested. Each time Modric was anonymous playing there.

Modric doesn't score enough to make it worthwhile. As evidenced, Rafa knows how to put the ball in the net at least once every 90 mins when he plays a full game.

Tell VDV to stay in the opponents half and leave Modric to start play from the back, I would love to see Modric play further forward but with VDV in the side this is not possible, when Ardiles first came to us he played in the hole and for me he was bloody brilliant there, then he was dropped deeper to accomodate Hoddle, in a way I feel we wasted Ossie a bit because he could be so creative pushing passes through to Archie and Garth who had bags of pace.
