Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale is expected to be out of action for up to two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during Tottenham's 3-0 win over Fulham.

Bale hobbled off in the 62nd minute at Craven Cottage after falling awkwardly following a shot at goal.

Spurs fans were left fearing the Welshman could be set for a long-term lay-off, but boss Andre Villas-Boas, who also lost centre-back Michael Dawson with a hamstring injury, played down those concerns after the match.

"Both Bale and Dawson have suffered hamstring muscle injuries," said Villas-Boas.

"One looks more serious than the other although both are controllable.

"With muscle injuries it's very difficult but it might keep Bale out for one to weeks. Dawson a little bit less."

Re: Gareth Bale

Liverpool wasn't a dive...today was a foul but he massively over-reacted. He has dug his own grave by earning a reputation for himself

Re: Gareth Bale

I'd be interesting in see Dempsey out there in a 442 like where he mostly played at Fulham.

Opening a spot for Ade in behind Defoe. I like Ade having that free role. He can move between creating a 5 man midfield and second striker. He was playing that role to perfection before that unlucky challenge. We will need Dembele to step up however. He could also play the Bale role quite easily.

Re: Gareth Bale

If its only 2 weeks thats not so bad at all. Falque or Townsend can fill in for him on Thursday. And I would think Dempsey will play on the left v Everton with Ade just behind Defoe.
Hopefully, Bale is then backing raring to go for the Xmas/New Year run starting at home to Stoke, where we should have a nice few selection headaches with Parker and Ekotto also back in the fold

Re: Gareth Bale

Haven't seen today's dive, but does he really need to throw himself to the ground whenever he is clipped? Contact does not equal a foul. He was clipped by Agger on Wednesday, but he went down after the contact was made. You go to ground involuntarily if you are fouled, you do not choose to go down.

Re: Gareth Bale

He probably felt a touch today, but his decision to not put down his right foot and go flying instead just looked ridiculous.

I need to see it again, but from memory, if he'd put his right foot down, he could've ended up with a serious injury due to the angle of Sidwell's foul. BTW, Sidwell is a nasty piece of work, should've been sent off last season for whacking Parker in the achilles...

Re: Gareth Bale

The more so when he massively risked getting sent off by applauding the ref.

Some one needs to sit him down, seriously.

His entire game was compromised by that terrible decision today.
On Wednesday, it is no coincidence that Agger was the one who clipped him an then screamed in his face.
