:ross: Brilliant. Using social media for it's correct purpose. It's important to show a bit of personality on Twitter and Facebook etc.

I like our classy public statements as much as anyone. We are very dignified. But on Twitter, we can be a bit more funny.

Re: Gareth Bale

Whatever their reasons are, it is really a wrong timing to take off Bale's photo now. You know that will only cause more speculation. They should have waited until Bale's future is confirmed.

Similiarly, it is not wise for anyone other than Levy and AVB to talk to the media about Bale. You know the media would twist their words to their liking. I think the media has twisted Spurs director Keith Mills's words to mean we cannot force Bale to stay. I don't think Mills was referring to Bale. The media probably asked him a general question about players wishing to go to big clubs like Real Madrid and then twisted his answer to mean he was referring to Bale's wish to go to Real Madrid.

Disagree. The club should just go about their business as usual, regardless of any possible media speculation. Because, let's face it, there will be speculative and unsubstantiated articles about Bale no matter what the club does and doesn't do. It won't stop until Bale has been sold, I'm afraid. Might cool down for a while if Bale's still here come September 2nd, but other than that, the flimflam will continue regardless.

This, however, is brillant! =D>
Love it how they're taking the tinkle of all the rumour stories!

Re: Gareth Bale

Let the backpedaling begin!

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti refuses to talk about the bid to sign Gareth Bale

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has refused to answer questions about the club's ongoing pursuit of Gareth Bale for fear of further upsetting Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Ancelotti, whose side are in Miami ahead of Wednesday night's clash with Chelsea in the final of the Guinness International Champions Cup, refused to talk about Real's attempts to sign Bale in a world-record fee from Tottenham.

Ancelotti's decision not to discuss the issue comes after he irked Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas by declaring in a press conference last week that his side were "negotiating and trying to find a solution to the situation" with regards to the Wales international.

"I won't speak about Bale, because I have already angered him (Villas-Boas) and I don't want to anger another coach," the Real boss said.

"I didn't say anything in particular and I prefer not to talk about this."

Tottenham director Sir Keith Mills has acknowledged the club would find it "very difficult" to keep Bale if he wants to move to Spain, even though he signed a new four-year contract only last summer.

Villas-Boas has said the 24-year-old is not for sale, but Spurs recognise any attempts to keep Bale against his will would be futile with Real attempting to push through a deal in excess of £80million.

Mills told the Evening Standard: "We very much want Bale to stay.

"If a player is desperate to leave, it's very difficult to force him to stay.

"We've seen it in other clubs. Even if he has a contract, you can't force somebody to play for you."

Re: Gareth Bale

Andre Villas-Boas and Daniel Levy Have Sent a Message to Real Madrid, Gareth Bale and the Football World
By Zac Wassink | Yahoo! Contributor Network

What will likely go down as a historic transfer saga involving current Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has taken many a turn since well before the start of summer.

Bale being used in the team's kit revealing event and also as a Times Square poster-boy to promote the Premier League moving to NBC all meant that the Welsh wonder was staying at Tottenham. A transfer fee that has risen from £50m to somewhere in the £85m range and comments made by those at Real Madrid and in the Spanish press apparently resulted in the player's head being turned, indicating that Bale leaving for Spain was a matter of "when" and not "if." Then came a sentence out of the mouth of Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas, a statement of defiance sent to both Bale and to the Spanish giants who have gotten used to getting their way when it comes to these matters.

"The only thing we have communicated (to Real Madrid) is that the player is our player and is not for sale."

In under 10 seconds, Villas-Boas sent Tottenham fans posting on sites such as Twitter and Facebook into delirium. Not only had the club brought in talent and done so before the end of the transfer window. Spurs were keeping their top player for at least one more season, a move that could represent the final piece of

Tottenham's Champions League puzzle that had gone missing over the past couple of years.

That, as all diehard football fans know, is not necessarily the case regarding Bale. Statements like the one made by AVB this past weekend are often merely part of negotiations that end with the player in question making a move to the club of his choice. Regardless of what Villas-Boas or Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy say, I absolutely believe that there is some price in mind that would be accepted for the man who played the role of Spurs savior time and time again last season. Whether or not Real Madrid will match that valuation has yet to be determined.

Villas-Boas, intentionally or not, launched a four-entity game of chicken that could reach its end before Tottenham plays its first Premier League game of the upcoming season. Levy has a long history of not flinching in these scenarios, so Real Madrid will likely have to budge and submit what would be an astronomical offer for Bale. Even if that does occur, Bale may have to force Levy's hand with a gesture that, according to most reports, isn't coming anytime soon.

That Bale has told both Villas-Boas and Levy that he wants to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world seems believable enough. Bale is not Luka Modric, however, in that he does not see himself as being too big to play at White Hart Lane. He is unsettled, sure, but he's never displayed any unhappiness as a Tottenham player, not even when training with the club this summer. His much-publicized "bromance" with AVB has even been cited as a reason for why Bale wouldn't force an exit, at least not this summer.

Bale is set to return to training with Tottenham on Tuesday. Real Madrid has not yet submitted an improved offer. Nobody at Spurs has said anything that contradicts the comments made by Villas-Boas on Saturday. Regardless of all rumors and opinions, all indications right now are that Bale will be a Spurs player through the end of the transfer window.

That could all change in an instant, though, if one party involved flinches.

Nice commentary from Yahoo Sports. It seems AVB's defiant words regarding Bale has really improved his image as a manager.=D>

As i said before, Ancelotti didn't do much wrong to begin with.

To be honest I do wonder if Ancelotti himself even wants Bale THAT much.Of course he'd love Bale, but think he'd rather bring in Suaraez and someone else with the money being spoken about.

Re: Gareth Bale

Rather glad for the Suarez interview as it not only thrusts a different transfer story into the forefront but also means that the media frenzy has something tangible to bite on, a solid desire from a player to leave, rather than having to invent and infer in the case of Bale.

Indeed, its a good move by the club as it should hopefully stop all the unfounded BS that even some Spurs fans are uttering.

Re: Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale has been named in the Wales squad for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium on 14 August.

Interesting. So he if plays for Wales next Wednesday, hopefully he wont pick up a mystery injury before the Palace game.

Re: Gareth Bale

I doubt he'll play when there's a ready-made excuse available. Personally, I don't think anyone will see Bale on the field of play again till after the 2nd of September.

Then that would be gonad*s and we shouldnt pay him UNLESS Management decide this but even so - why wouldnt and shouldnt they? They would be giving him an easy ride in my view. He is not sold - he plays. Simple.
