Alex Pritchard

Hope there's a one-year extension on that contract. Either way, good work by the club to tie him down to a new deal.

Great stuff, would be nice to see him on the bench tomorrow, but think it will be a tad too early in his return from injury

Are we sure we signed Alex to a new contract? ESPN reports we signed Luke! (although I have to admit, he does look like Alex)

14.50 BST: He impressed on loan at Brentford last season, but Luke Pritchard's long-term future remains at the Lane.

Oh the attention to detail the sports columnists pay.

Also, that picture does him few favours: he looks a bit like Stephen Graham playing Billy Bremner in The Damned United. :p

Amazing to think 5 years a ago the only academy grads we had in the squad were King, rose and Crouch, of whom was bought back.

Now we have Kane, Mason, Bentaleb, Rose, Townsend, Carrol, Pritchard with some more likely to get their chance this season.

And then you have young players bought in with Eriksen, Lamela, Dier, Alli, Yedlin, Wimmer and Njie all 23 or younger.

Whilst there is a 'lack of experience' that will be exposed over the season, hopefully not too much, I have to say this the most impressed I've ever been with Tottenham's youth policy, it's a bit like 2005, a good bunch of youngsters bought (Carrick, Lennon, Huddlestone, Defoe, Robbo) and then added to the that you have the academy.
