***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco***

A very poor lethargic performance by Spurs. Monaco never needed to step up a gear. We couldn't step up a gear. It is clear that Kane is off form. Erikson's mind isnt at the club this season. I dont get why Poch didnt start with Dembele. Alli is shackled in CM. Spurs are clearly not good enough to come out of this group.

I think we can be good enough to get out of the group, but we need to produce similar levels of intensity to those we showed in the first 20 or 30 minutes of the second half to get anywhere. After the 2nd and 3rd substitutions, we started to look very one-paced again.

I think that would have been a different result at WHL.
We got beaten by the strangeness of playing a home game at Wembley with the expectation that we would win, and the size of the pitch.
i expect us to beat them away.
We got beaten by not taking our chances and slacking off to give them their two efforts on goal. The venue (85,000 + fans) and the size of the pitch should not be factors.

Kane's a bit of a worry at the moment. Out of sorts and trying too hard as result.

Normally I would say give him a rest on Sunday and start him v Gillingham to see if he can bag a few, but I am not convinced Janssen would be much better starting v
Sunderland

He didn't get a break today. Last season he was taking shots on early. Tonight, trying to perfect it, and seemed to just pause before shooting. Hesitant in defence and attack - due to the new surroundings.

It shouldn't but nevertheless I think it does have an effect. But we should have taken our chances, I agree.

The rubbish record at the new Wembley continues....now 1 win in 6?

All the pre match hype and excitement meant it's only natural we were going to be let down

Poor from Poch. Wrong team selection, didn't take Monaco seriously. What did he say before the game..." this game is no different to playing Stoke" or something along those lines. Disappointing

We didnt show that much drive except for very few moments. Almost half of our passes were in our half and one quarter of the rest was in front of the Monaco DMs. The front four seemed like they had just met each other before the game.

Also, Kane might want to play through his current iffy patch, and we should let him if he wants to - he's earned that much. However, we should definitely start subbing Janssen in earlier and earlier if this persists, to get an alternative on the field and leave Kane in the hole when he's struggling to be incisive up front.

Janssen harried well, and held it up well. That layoff to Kane in the 79th (?) minute was the moment we could have tied it up, but Kane unbelievably sent it straight at Subasic. I'm leaning towards bringing him on earlier in games.

Kane was also selfish in some positions. I am all for giving Harry a chance but Harry needs to be honest and say he needs a rest.

Oh, and the ref did well. Let a lot of stuff go (and was right to do so), looked in control and got his point across without the drama that usually accompanies Prem refs doing the same thing.

I'm afraid of Wembely now. I was at the League Cup Final and the FA Cup Semi drubbing by the Chavs, I'm still not over that one. To think we used to practically own the place!

He definitely does, but he's also put himself on the line enough that I don't feel comfortable with the prospect of us dropping him. Hence, if he wants to play, we should let him - however, we can't let that damage our results too much, so bringing on Janssen earlier in games could help us mantain an attacking threat when Kane's struggling.

Did he do well when he let Monaco players surround and harangue him after the yellow card at the corner? Or when he didn't book the Monaco players for kicking the ball away too?

Well Poch simply trying to play it down the hype a little. And he was right. I don't think Monaco are better than Stoke. How many shots did Stoke have? Got to be more than 2! But the pressure, new stadium, CL, we were hesitant.

Deeply frustrating game. We'll hopefully learn from it, and be better in the next. The team startled in the CL headlights.

What a disappointment. Didn't expect anything less. I'm always prepared for these occasions.

Record crowd. Hyped up game. Lost.

Only Spurs
