Euro 2016 Group B - England, Russia, Slovakia, Wales

poor overall tonight

but, far better than I expected over the three games, I wasn't that confident of taking second in the group, I expected Wales to win it

Bit harsh on Henderson to be fair, in the first half he played some good defence splitting passes.

They walked around with the ball all taking an extra touch afraid to do something wrong and not be in the team for the next games.
Slovakia were happy with 0-0. England were completely clueless in how to break it down.
Meanwhile Hodgson is happy they dominated the game.
Did Hodgson want to avoid Belgium in the quarter final and fancied France instead.

Once again we were the much better team, but once again our forwards let us down. Our overall shooting and finishing has been really poor in all three games.

My two bob's worth, from a non-English pov. Slovakia did what they had to do, potentially mission accomplished for them. Hodgson rotated when he absolutely shouldn't have - under estimated Slovakia? or just arrogance that he can't afford?

Leaving out Walker, Rose, Rooney and Alli was a mistake. Bertrand was awful, totally lacked what Rose's forward threat offers, plus he could have been sent off. Although Clyne did ok. Midfield of Wheelchair, Henderson and Dier offers very little and it showed. Big Eric was the main threat from midfield. Sturridge is too much of a risk as a player, only plays when he feels like it.

England have a potentially very, very good first team that should line out for every game and should only be changed in the event of injuries, it's not like it's a long tournament:

Hart, Walker, Cahill, Smalling, Rose, Dier, Rooney, Llanana, Allli, Kane, Vardy.

That went to no-one, so not any use at all.

or did no one make the correct run? sums up England, the movement was shocking and we looked like a Spurs team under AVB.

Also didn't Henderson play the ball for the Vardy chance?

Did anyone else play count how many times Wheelchair gives the ball away tonight? I counted at least 5 times.

What on Earth was Roy thinking resting 6 players? Fair enough, I fully understand dropping Kane and Sterling, but the others were baffling.

Ironically, this is the best we have played in a tournament since France 98 or going back even further to Euro 96, which isn't saying a great deal but we look far more like a team than we did under the "golden generation".

Crossing not working, Vardy not performing... Bet you were sat at home watching with the smile of a smug Cheshire cat ;)
It's just a burden being so right all the time - no chance to enjoy it.

Seriously though, it's hard to enjoy England's demise now that there are some Spurs players in the team. It's the most I've wanted England to win since 1990 so it's even more frustrating when such good players turn to such dinosaur methods.

Wheelchair lost the ball about 20 times by my reckoning. Is there a passing chalkboard for England? I Googled passing chalkboard and it jumped me back into 2012. It was quite scary.
