Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

Except he was given an 18 month contract so not so much an interim in this Tim.... Listen I don't love the dude, but the vitriol he receives is way over the top and unjustified.... And before we go for another change from someone with good results and exciting performances (if not overly solid, but that may come) I want to be sure the risk rewards are worth it...

He already had an 18-month contract, so the only thing that changed was his title.

I think that's quibbling over minor details personally mate - 18 month contract, why not a 3 year one if he was intended to be a genuine long term appointment? If i thought he was a serious appointment id very much be in the give him time camp, but i don't think that's the case and i don't think someone with such little experience should get the job.

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

I was under the impression it had to be 18months either Dim Tim would not have taken the interim job

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

Are you seriously suggesting there's some kind of equivalence between Timmeh and Rodgers?

I was in favour of Rodgers pre avb so no not quite.... But the truth is no body knows how good a manager Tim will be over the longer term, and short term he has done results wise.

The overwhelming probability is that he won't be good enough.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

3 wins and an away draw.
Manager of the Month?

Not manager of the month BUT the guy keeps picking up points but others keep discrediting him. If players didnt like him - we wouldnt be picking up as many points. He is definitely doing something right. Unlike others I am intrigued by what he could do with a full pre season and season.

I thought people would have learnt their lesson and grass is not always greener on the other side.

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

If we can bring in a top professional with a winning track record then no.

If we can't then yes keep him. Don't replace him with yet another gamble on whoever came 2nd place in last years Eurovision Song Contest with their dimensional initiative song and dance extravaganza.

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

Of course he should stay.

Anyone who says otherwise is basing their answer on unsubstantiated and irrelevant rumours.

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

How well would our current team do with no coach at all???

personally i think it would be exactly as we are doing now.

+1. This whole the squad is against him theory is a bit of a myth for me. If LVG isn't achieveable I wouldn't be against him being given a proper crack of the whip....

Probably slightly better as they wouldn't be getting ****ged off all the time.

Nope, I'm basing it on our non fluid football, Tim Sherwood's sound bites and an opinion that our players are getting us the results in spite of Sherwood.

I have said for ages it would be interesting to see where we were next season after 10 games...once he's had a pre-season and some have moved on and signings have been made.

With LVG seemingly about to put pen to paper to UTD who knows.

of course for some the risk is too great...many on here a certain it would be a disaster...either way if we cant get the people's saviour in lvg who DOESNT want to join us anyway then why not....

Sherwoods record isnt terrible by any stretch and I see no point in not letting him carry on his work UNLESS we can get an A grade coach....if not he stays and upsets a few people because he is brash but at least life wont be dull being a spurs supporter....

Its not a massive risk. He has accumulated a fair few points so the risk isnt with results but mainly with whether the team could play in a more aesthetic and progressive fashion. Yet I imagine those same people who want that NOW were the same people happy with our performances under AVB. I want our performances improves and like you say I think a pre-season would help.

Yeah a pre-season is massive for any coach...

At this point I think its too soon to fully judge Tim.....10 games after a pre-season would be long enough.

and now comes all the posts how we cant let a trainee manage our prestigious club....about how we would be the new crazy gang of the noughties....I really wish we could remove all the pre-conceived Bull***t about Sherwood and have a proper discussion about him....but never mind....yes he has a potty mouth and upsets alot of people but so did Clough & Fergie...didnt stop them being decent managers.

I remember I once asked in a thread for people to list what makes a good manager and prioritise the points......basically results was top, peformances second and handling the press was bottom of the list!

With that in mind I find it remarkable that he should be caned just because he doesnt conform to the Martinez standard of speaking....who cares....every human being is different....those who said results are the be all and end all shouldnt just poo poo Timbo's record over 18 epl games......it aint bad at all for a ROOKIE!

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Games like today are the reason Sherwood will be managing another Premier League club next season.

Dreadful performance, overwhelmed tactically in the second half and lucky to get anything from the game. But another 3 points, and from a ground where Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd have all lost this season, where City and Everton drew, and where Liverpool needed a dodgy penalty to win.

If you'd spoke to anyone at the end of AVB's reign, told them that we wouldn't strengthen in January, would have a huge number of injuries to deal with including Walker which meant Naughton would have to start every game, Vertonghen will stop caring, Kaboul will come back from injury with no pace at all, our big money summer signings will completely fail to adapt to the Premier League, we'll get screwed over by some awful refereeing decisions, and the fans and media will completely turn on the manager. Imagine if you asked that person how many points they'd pick up over the next 20 games. I seriously doubt anyone would say 39. That's 74 points averaged over a season, which we've never amassed before. And if you asked them how many goals we'd score over the next 20 games? Doubt many would say 37 with the same squad after we only scored 15 in our first 16 games. 37 from 20 games is 70 goals averaged over a season, which we've never managed in the Premier League.

The stats are good. So someone will give him a job. The performances and his conduct have been poor though. And I don't think our players think much of him. Which is why it won't be us.

He could start by praising the players when we play well and stop taking all the credit. He also needs to keep his temper in check and protect the team he has chosen when we lose.
