im with you on this....however if we are short of cash, then AVB and the rest of us will have to put up with it and hope for the best in whoever we sign

If we don't have much to spend then I don't see the point in keeping Bale for another year, we may as well just sell him now while his price is at its peak.

i thought the general consensus around here was that we'd get a front three who would roam around? Chadli and Bale would do that. It's all about that missing piece up top now. Which is why I thought fudge it, lets just spend £20m+ on Lamela instead of wasting money on Bernard/Soldado.

Hopefully AVB sees things differently. I like Lennon and I think this will be Townsend's breakthrough season, maybe not as a regular starting 11 player but hopefully
an integral part of the first team squad

but I happened to watch a Twente game where Chadli scored twice and he looked great all game. He isn't the worst finisher at all and would hopefully add goals to our team. If we're getting 20+ goals from Bale, 5+ from Dempsey and Chadli, Sigurdsson chipping in, our "new striker" scoring atleast 15+, Paulinho chipping in too then goals every now and then from Vertonghen, Dembele etc. we'll do well.

oh I love Lennon, my favourite Spurs player, nearly 300 games for the club!

but if Chadli can come to England take to it like he has Eredivisie, then he's an upgrade. If Lennon is happy to sit on the bench or start the odd game here and there as well as make a difference from the bench then that is fine, competition is always good and I've always thought that was when Lennon is at his best.
 
It's not wrong. The entire premise of keeping Bale for one more season is that we were going to push on, spend and put players around him who'll help us fight at a higher level. If all we're going to do is turn down the chance to sign those players because they're too expensive and instead pick up some cheap bargains then there's no point in keeping Bale for another year. His price is at its peak now imo, not next summer.
