QPR ratings

Tough game today, always was going to be. People on this board really think that football plays in real life like a game.

- QPR sat deep, all the big teams struggle against that, difference between us and Manure is RVP/Hernandez/Rooney would have put away one of the 3-4 chances that fell to JD/Ade
- Harry was our manager for 4 years, you really don't think he knows how to counter Bale/Lennon? it showed, his team wasn't going to let them around the back.
- And I really don't question our motivation, we battered them at start of 1st half and 2nd.

The only real question for me was the Dempsey/Ade choice, but considering Ade is going to be off, and Dempsey is going to get a run of games, the logic of giving him a touch more rest, especially in light of his recent injury made sense.

We had the usual possession, made some opportunities, but were countered well by a very hard working team in which some of the "name" players are starting to play to their levels.

It does highlight the value of investing in a Creative Midfielder and Striker this window if we can.

Entitled to your opinion fella, but I totally disagree with your views on parker and Daws. Both of them tried to move the ball forward at every opportunity. daws with passes, Parker with some surprising surging runs.

Parker holds on to the ball too long and either losers possession or kills our attack while Dawson despite his very good defending was shocking when it came to distributing the ball

This.

You might give props to Dawson for him 'trying' to move the ball forward, however he's just not good at it. He hoofs it forward and we lose possession more often than not. I'd much rather he sticks to his defensive duties and passes the ball to those more capable of going forwards.

I don't think everything he does is fantastic, I think he should have played Dempsey/Sig today instead of one of Ade/Defoe as they are more likely to create something in that type of game.

What i do disagree with is when people criticise him for things just because we lose, even when they are not even remotely correct reasons, imo.

I do think we should persist with a player who is not 'at it'. We don't have the finances to simply write off a player when they have a bad six months. What should be done is him being used as a sub or a lone striker. Mix it up a little as him and defoe is currently not working.

Err - we didnt.

Harsh.

Daws can be a liability with his passing but, overall, I thought it was pretty good today. Certainly no worse than JV's.

And I thought that Parker was pretty good when in possession today too. Certainly better than Dembele.

And exactly how many goals has the Ade/Defoe partnership brought forth? What is it - one goal between them in the last five games - especially when we are in a good run of results.

Not good enough I'm afraid - and too many apologists on here. Ade and Defoe just doesnt work. We tried it a few times last season and quite a few this season. We desperately need a new top notch striker. For AVB to say we dont, is just wrong. It has cost us in the last two seasons and if we dont get one, then I am fearful it might well cost us again. Quality strikers make all the difference. We dont have one, never mind two.

All very true.

But how is it AVB's fault that we don't have that striker?

When BAE is not playing then there must be another victim for the man of many names.
I thought all the players on both sides played OK and in a good spirit. We needed a spark of brilliance from our better players and we didn't get it.
Ade went close (as did Defoe) but to describe his chance as easy is nothing short of stupid. Parker did better going forward than I have seen him in the past.
That's it. Game over. Move on

Who did you feel were better in this aspect of the game than those two specifically against QPR?

Lloris - 7 - Had little to do.

Walker - 5 - Lots of mistakes.......Again !
Dawson - 6.5 - Frustrating hoof after hoof, but did do some great tackles.
Vertonghen - 7 - Smooth and dependable.
Naughton - 6 - One step forward, one step back.

Lennon - 5 - Had no answer to the brick walls he was running into today.
Dembele - 6 - Some silky touches but no end product today.
Sandro - 5 - Disappointing.
Bale - 4 - Poor game, wasted posession and free kicks infuriating.

Adebayor - 4 - Should have scored, looks a broken man at the moment.
Defoe - 5 - Had his customary "Defoe" shot early one but then invisible.

Parker - 7 - Impressive when he came on.
Dempsey 6 - Went to the loo and genuinely didnt realise he had come on until about 10 minutes later.
Sigurdsson - 5 - Again he was bought on to late to make any difference. Looks desperate to impress.

And this is why I don't want to...

If you actually replied to the things written in the posts you quoted and stay on topic maybe we could have a discussion.

True but it's not just that, is it, they also happen to have some of the world's most talented strikers.

Yep, this is it. I don't think there's much difference at all between the first 9 names on our team sheet and the first 9 on Man Utd's. It's just they have probably the two best players in the league as the 10th and 11th name, whilst we have Defoe and Adebayor.

Rooney or RVP put away Ade's chance in the first few mins 9 times out of 10, after that QPR's bus parking gameplan is out the window and we most likely cruise to a 0-3 win. I'm sure AVB didn't instruct Ade to tamely pass it into Cesar's arms.

I'm looking at today's result as a point gained, at a ground where we lost last season. Sure I'm disappointed that we didn't win but IMHO any away point gained in the prem is a good point.

Er, he didn't. He took a shot and the keeper got lucky, it deflected off his elbow as he fell over and went wide.

He more or less had an entire goal to aim at but instead hit a weak shot into an area where Cesar could easily block it. If he'd hit it with any power or lift then it goes in. It was the same away to Sunderland, through on goal, tame side foot into Mignolet's arms.

I was at the game today, in a very good position

Naughton - 4.5 (he really is not good enough yet. one for the future)
Adebayor - 5 (fudge off to Africa as soon as. you really didn't try)
Dembele - 5.5 (not a good day at the office)

Hugo - 7 (didn't have much to do, but a great player)
Verts / Dawson - 7 (good enough for me)

Everybody else gets a 6, just for not being as brick as Naughton

Didn't think Naughton was great but he was better than Walker again, who was skinned by SWP a few times.
