Transfer News: Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has shrugged off talk linking him with a move to QPR.

It has been suggested Redknapp is lining up a raid on his old club Tottenham to bring Dawson to Loftus Road to shore up the Premier League basement boys' defence.

Dawson, who made his first Premier League start of the season in Sunday's win over West Ham, is ignoring speculation over his future insisting that he is fully focused on Tottenham's cause.

"I'm at Tottenham. I'm playing my football and I played today," Dawson told London 24. "I love playing football and I want to be playing. There's no hiding that and it's hard when you're not.

"Every player wants to play, not just me, and of course it's frustrating. But I'm someone who keeps my head down, works hard and when you're called upon you've got to go out there and perform - and I thought all 11 players performed well.

"It's a great feeling and great to get three points because these fans went through a hard week last week, losing the way we did against Arsenal, and it hurt the boys.

"We're back to winning ways in the Premier League, which we needed to do because we haven't been having the best of runs in recent weeks."

Re: Dawson

Doesnt seem like AVB has much faith in Daws :(

I think he would have been sold in the summer if Kaboul hadn't picked up his long term injury. I think it's likely that he will leave in January.

If I was Dawson I would be fking raging with that comment, the mans a PR disaster!

That would depend on what AVB and Dawson have been talking about before. If AVB hadn't talked to Dawson at all about what he thought about his future at the club then I would agree with you, but if AVB has made it clear that he will be accepting good offers for him in January then it's really not a issue. Actually, letting it be known that he is available seems like a fair thing to do in that case.

Re: Dawson

anyone with dawson vs gallas stats? I'm thinking our recent good form has got to do with dawson's re-introduction.

Dawson's 2012-13 stats includes his appearances as a used substitute...

...if you want only his starts, his record is

P6 W4-D1-L1 F13-A6 Record: 75%

I think AVB is quite aware of all things stats. He can also see the quality of teams that Dawson has played against.

Re: Dawson

Funny that when Dawson was being touted for sale in the summer so many fans on here wrote him off. I still rate this as error of judgement by AVB, which thankfully did not go through. A very good player. Yes he makes mistakes but because he is a Spurs player we focus on his more. I can't think of any defenders who do not make mistakes even the great man Ledders. Kaboul used to be a disaster waiting to happen although he has improved his concentration, him and BAE at the back will give me nightmares. Dawson in my view is a better centre back - Kaboul imv should be a roving right back with Verts or Caulker partnering Dawson. Great in the air, strong in the tackle and a leader. Hopefully he can improve his short passing. Will be gutted if he is sold.

If you take away the three losses we are unbeaten when he plays.

Gallas has not been that bad but we have shipped a lot of goals recently when he plays. Take out the Arsenal game (please!!!) and Michael looks a better option right now IMO.

Thats one way of interpreting those stats.
Or you could say Gallas has played 1170 league minutes and we conceded 22 goals. So we concede a goal every 58.5 minutes when Gallas is on the pitch.
Dawson was played 240 league minutes and we conceded 5 goals. We concede a goal every 48 minutes when Dawson is on the pitch.

Ultimately you can fudge aorund with stats any way you want to prove or disprove a point.

Re: Dawson

I'm one of those who wouldn't have been unhappy to have seen Dawson shipped out in the summer given a suitable replacement, but I must say I'm rather glad he's still here now. Whether it's down to AVB et al. or not, I don't know, and yes, he might still lack a yard of pace, but I've seen significant improvement recently in the area I've long thought has been the weakest area of his game—his distribution, and his seemingly unerring propensity hitherto to make unsafe clearances. Long may it continue. I think he's upped his game and I'd be very much against his being moved on in January.

Re: Dawson

Even the moment he cleared v gallas he showed quality, up and out... Azza on the other hand isn't a defender, look what he did lol.

Seriously, he has better reading of the game, and we need him. He's been with us into the CL, and unless we get kaboom back, Daws should be playing IMO.
