Does anybody know a good free file converter so I can convert mk4 to mp4 for use on my Nexus?

I tried a couple but they even though they say free they are actually trial ones or only do the first few mins etc!

Handbrake. You should be able to Google a profile to set it up for you if it doesn't have one from scratch.

Cheers, just installed it and trying to convert a file now.. hopefully works ok. Ta Scara

Have you installed VLC media player? I'm pretty sure that will play almost everything you can think of, without need to convert it.

lol they charge an extra £100 for a 3g one.

It's been a poor few weeks for them

But not entirely unexpected.

The specs of the iPad mini are shocking. Almost laughable when you consider the first hour of the presentation focussed on screen resolution and pixels of their various devices.

And the price is astonishing.

And I can't believe what they've just done to recent iPad owners!!!

A$$le. LOL

i think thats worth it to be honest, when i bought the first ipad i was cheap and went wifi only, so i had to tether to my phone when i used it out and about, which was a massive pain in the arse, i wont make that mistake again

'Kick in the face'

Apple also announced a lower-key upgrade for the full-sized iPad. Calling it the "fourth generation" iPad, Mr Schiller said its new A6X chip meant it had twice the CPU (central processing unit) power of the third-generation model.

Paddy Smith, online editor for Stuff.tv, said some Apple users might see the iPad upgrade as a "kick in the face" as the previous model was just seven months old.

so what could the ipad3 do yesterday that it can't do today?

The iPad purchased 6 months ago, has half the CPU power and half the graphic power

This 4th gen iPad is the same price too

After 6 months (or less) of ownership, that is a massive kick in the balls!

why, the device they purchased still does the same things it did when they decided to purchase it

I really don't get this attitude, that people feel they must have the new and shiny thing all the time

Did anyone owning the previous iPad have issues with speed? Genuine question as I might try to pick one up cheap on eBay.

it's not just apple, look at the dell (or any other computer manufacturer) site, they are constantly bumping the specs of their units, it's standard industry practice but people get their knickers in a knot just because its apple

They'll still sell absolutely tons of them! At this point the value in the ecosystem and name means anything less than a premium and they're devaluing their own products - most people would think twice about buying a £600 iPad if all the same apps were available on a £200 mini with the same branding and support.

On the same note I wonder whether the majority of iPad mini owners will be people that would otherwise have bought a Nexus / fire / nook or if they're going to cannibalise the sales of their full sized tablet.

Companies like Dell constantly upgrade their product lines, its incremental. They don't have media events to roll out the new version as a new product in the same way.

That's only because there range is so vast, they'd bankrupt themselves ;)

Dell also have never, and will never, double the specification of their top of their range PC within 6 months

It would make loyal customers angry

Imagine going out and buying a brand new Aston Martin

And then 2 months later your mate turns up at work with DOUBLE the horse power and full ceramic brakes at the same price

(And you found out that Aston Martin knew that this product was going to be released only a few weeks down the line)

I would be hugely tinkled off
