I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

He looks sharper than I’ve ever seen him. Perhaps he is benefiting from less intensive training sessions than he’s had in the past?

He's stronger, quicker, doesn't overdo the holding on to the ball too long (typically his fatal flaw), ghosts opposition players and pulling some really beautiful passes off. While still being the maniac Lamela we know.

I suspect he is fully match fit for the first time in a long time, and yes, he's probably benefiting from less gruelling training sessions. The fact the we almost have a fully fit squad in this season perhaps indicates we are managing players fitness/recoveries a little better as well.

He always has these little spells of looking a serious player but then it's usually followed up with a lengthy lay off - wonder if he's playing to not be sold in the summer?

He does play well in the Europa
Always has done
I doubt he wants to leave but I do think it would be the best thing for his career

I think our style of play and set up suits him more now.
We never set up to get the best out of him, and we shouldn't have, because we had a system that worked and allowed better players to thrive. And of course his fitness wasn't reliable.
A move to a team that sets up to play to strengths would be getting a very good player. If he can stay fit of course.
I would hate to see him leave though, it's refreshing to see a player show such loyalty and commitment after being at a club for so long.

he always plays well when he's in the team, he's one player we can never question the attitude or effort of

Attitude and effort absolutely. End product not so much. For me, we need to sell at least one of Moura, Lamela and Bergwijn. Moura IMO isn’t perfect but we should keep him as he is more of a goal threat and works as hard as Lamela. Bergwijn doesn’t do enough IMO, doesn’t create or score enough but he has age on his side. Lamela is a better player than Bergwijn but having said that doesn’t score enough or hurt teams as much as he should do and of course has well-documented injury problems. I think all of the above three players are upgradable tbh.

I don't, I don't think you get a better player for Spurs money who will also accept being part of squad rotation (and with Bale & Lo Celso likely first choice, that's what they will be)

They are exactly the kind of players truly successful teams need, can do a job, capable of a little bit of magic on the day, right attitude and happy to help the team.

If we had City or PSG money? = maybe, but considering our priorities over summer will be CB -> Keeper -> ST (buy Vini or another), DM (PEH backup) and I'd consider upgrading the backup FBs before those 3, just not a priority

He does seem to be a lot fitter then he has been over the years, being able to play on a regular basis must also help him perform to his best. I guess time will tell if he can stay fit until the end of the season.
