Coronavirus

I think they'll stick with the plan to go back to the tiers after 2 December, not least because they won't have to go through a vote in parliament for that, whereas they would to impose another national lockdown. Will be interesting to see how many Tier 3s there are come December.

A tiered national lockdown you mean?

This winter, and summer in Aus and NZ will be really interesting.
Correct me if I'm way off here - but it should show that/if this is just a seasonal virus that has harsh outcomes for weaker people (and those that are unlucky enough to get it hard - but that's similar with most viruses isn't it?). So once some kind of vaccine exists that can help people through the infection we should be able to move more freely again.
(I'm in hightened optimism mode, so maybe overlooking something obvious here)

I sincerely hope the answer won't be another lockdown, as that would conclusively prove that lockdowns don't work.

Managed properly though, 0 cases suggests they do work? If periodic lockdowns get cases to 0 and allow 'durrrr economy' to function near normal in between times, how is that a bad approach?

New Zealand's progress suggests a second lockdown wouldn't be required anyway.

Shame the government over here have totally screwed the pooch with their 'strategy'

0 cases now.

Unless you're planning to build a TrumpWall around each city, eventually there will be cases again. If the answer to those cases is another lockdown, then they don't work.

I've been saying this for a while - the next few months in NZ and Australia holds the key.

In theory they are at zero. No one is getting in without 14days full quarantine either.
Those conditions on paper would irradicate.
If they do, then other countries need to find a way to do the same.

Hasn't NZ maintained 0 cases for months already? Same as most of Australia, Victoria aside? They just had to catch up... Strict quarantine when moving between states.

England have been utterly inept by comparison.
