Redknapp

I find it funny really. We want to swap out a Manager who has us punching above our weight, with a Manager who took (arguably) the best team in the country and had them struggling to finish top five. And what is really ironic is that AVB would go one of two ways with us most likely. Either he'd be an absolute flop like with Chelsea. Or he'd be a success (which would be finishing top four at least half the time he was in charge)...and fudge off after two years to a bigger club as soon as they come calling.

The talk was if we had to replace Redknapp. Im discussing that, not actively "sack him in favour of..."

The rest of your post is simple opinion based as fact. Who says he would fudge off? Why would success be top four? And not top 3? 2?

Talk about polar opinions...

I think what's getting most people's goat, is that in THAT SSN interview yesterday 'between holes'... Harry referred to England as 'us' and Tottenham as 'them'... (he kinda always has done... it's nothing new) but THAT, in a nutshell, has been most people's problem with him all along I think .

No, it doesn't sit right, when you look at how deeply ensconced someone like Wenger is at ArseAnal, or just how loved Kenny was at Liverpool DESPITE how it all ended...

for me, we were never going to get 'teh manager we wanted' after Hoddle turned out to be a disaster... HE was meant to be our Kenny Dalglish... and he ended up a laughing stock (taking us with him by the way!) Our obsession with the 'ex-player done good' type manager has only really ever worked with Bill Nic, and to a lesser extent, Venables.

Ardiles & Hoddle were disasters for the club, and had they not been such Legendary players for us, would've ruined their association with us totally. The Great ex-Spurs player doth NOT necessarily make a great Manager... time to accept it. Venables ain't coming back... and Hoddle won't suddenly turn into a great manager...

And while we're at it, we need to accept that an ex-West Ham manager/ArseAnal fan might actually be a decent option as OUR manager after all, even though he clearly doesn't bleed Liliywhite and Navy like the rest of us!

Time to accept it, and accept Harry... or else we'll be in yet ANOTHER Limbo-Transitional season... I thought we'd put those behind us???

Selected few have been doing it in this thread for 30-40 pages now - personal abuse, baiting, niggling, goading, etc. - all those things the new infraction rules were apparently brought in to eradicate - inexcplicable how certain things are overlooked on a daily basis.

Another ruined thread suffocating the little bit of interesting discussion with personal agendas and grudges

I got an infraction for calling someone boring, when I read some of the stuff in this thread its a fudging joke, I would not personally insult Redknap but as a man ( who has to be judged by his behaviour ) I cannot see how anybody can defend him.

Enter Klinsmann.

Villareal would have fudged us as well. The team at the time.

We nearly got humiliated by YOUNG BOYS FFS!!

The Inter game?? Lol

The game at the lane was brilliant.

Against AC we did a hit a run, and then MAdrid fudged us.

I loved every minute of the journey but take the rose tinted off please.

Villareal wouldnt have beaten us to near submission, which is what happened to everton. considering that we pretty much showed the holders what we were really about, i'd take my chances against villareal .

we NEARLy got humiliated by Young boys, but we didnt did we. so thats a non starter...you start allowing the NEARLYs in then you might as well allow it like it actually happened

again , away to inter milan (the holders) for a the first timers was always going to be difficult..., why do i seem to think we had 10 men when bale went on the rampage. by the way, we came out of that game looking alright in the end

agreed about the game at the lane

AC milan away wasnt a hit and run. at home was more like a hit and run but not away. and what were you expecting? total dominance from perenial CL competitiors at their home ground?

madrid did stick it to us, but i would rather have seen that game had crouch not been sent off tbh. but yes they did tell us where to go. must have been harry's fault that we got well beaten by madrid. enough to get the sack i would imagine for losing to them like that

Its weird being told to take off my spurs tinted glasses for the one and only time we have been in the CL , why would i want to do that? when i tell my kid about that first time, you think i'm going to give it an outlook like the way you just described it. LOL...rubbish, every bit of garnish and spice is going on there, tinted glasses firmly on.

we took that contest by the scruff of the neck..the AC milan away performance in particular wsas inspiring.....heroic displays from pienaar and sandro and great tactical acumen from Harry.

fudge me, do we all support and love the same club, and aren't we all on this board solely BECAUSE of that support and love or what?

It's always the same people. Every single time. In every single thread

Cool.....PM me if you don't change your mind! Which you will!! :)

Can assure you I won't, I did it when Graham was manager, gave it to my friend, my first game that season in 2001 was the FA cup semi against Arsenal..

It will be like watching England play every week.

We weren't mid table before Harry. We had 2 5th place finishes and were a club on the up. The situation when harry took over was dire but i always saw him as a stop gap and I still do.. The England thing hanged it all for me. It's like trying to pretend you didn't just walk in on your wife fudging your mate. If only things could be like they weren't before?? Nope. Ruined forever.

Wrong. The season immediately prior to Harry's arrival we finished 11th. Then at the start of the following season we were in total free-fall.

For all we know Levy also saw Harry as a stop-gap, in which case Harry has far exceeded expectations and has therefore earned the right to a new contract.

I want Harry to stay so he can continue to develop this team and continue to provide the type of attractive attacking football very few at this level aspire to.

Just like the time you threatened me in Random?

I didn't report it though.

I like the way the only way to win a debate here is to goad people in the hope they'll resort to personal abuse.

Shall I start talking about your kid and family?

mate i wasn't abusing you or your children, i was merely pointing out that i felt you were behaving in a childish manner (something you are quick to accuse me of regularly) ..

i'm afraid your over the top response only reinforces my argument that when it comes to this redknapp 'debate,' you act in a way that would make even the silliest of children label you childish..

apologies if you took it as an attack on you or your family, but your response was way out of line, imo.

Harry gets players playing well, he is a great man manager and seems to be a good motivator. He has made some good signings and some head scratchers. Some people want him to stay as they are only interested in results. Some, including myself, want him out as he is a tosser, is a clueless tactician and has no respect for the job he is in or anyone employing him.

if its his character thats blocking your willingness to accept him then i can really argue with that. the man is who he is , we wont change that on an internet forum. So i guess you either like him or you dont or you're indifferent.

fair enough.

the only thing i dont know how we can be certain off is his level of tactical nous.

if i were brutally honest i would say that i kind of agree with you...but i'd also have to think to myself "hmmm, me with my amateur coaching background thinks he knows more than a man thats been coaching for 30 odd years"...nah. i dont see that as a clever statement

And to think, Burky had to really start from the bottom, the second tier, having inherited a pile of total brick from Terry "****" Neil...mate...some people don't know their history...

Imagine having to deal with Young, McNobb, Osbad, Fatty Kendall, Moores, an aging Neighbor...there again, it's not like Burky did anything special like develop Hoddle, discover Galvin, develop Hughton, sign Roberts, sign Archibald, Crooks, Ardiles and Villa, win the UEFA Cup with players like dingdong and O'Reilly...

To cap it all, Keith Burkinshaw was one of the most non-egotistical managers around. He NEVER claimed credit, he was happy to take blame and he generally kept quiet. When he DID fudging say something controversial, it was because he BELIEVED it; and he left. A sad, sad day...

Just WAITING for someone to say"well that wasn't the premiership" blah blah blah. No it wasn't. It was Division 1, when Liverpool had one of the most incredible sides ever, Forest were roaring, etc, etc...

I just watched Redknapp's Sky interview again. Is there anyone who can defend him? Why couldn't he show some class and just say he didn't want to talk about his situation, that it will be sorted out one way or another and turn the conversation back around to "Tottenham" (BTW Harry, that's US!!!!!!!!)...there were far far better ways to deal with it than he gave, and IF he wanted to talk about it all so "openly" then I wonder why he left off what HE wants from it all? A fudging joke.

Must-calm-down...:)

Well that wasn't the premiership

Nah, some seem to enjoy attacking other posters for having the "wrong" opinion more.

Another ruined thread suffocating the little bit of interesting discussion with personal agendas and grudges

Unfortunately almost any thread involving Redknapp turns into my favourite buttplug because the Redknapp rebels have such a strong personal agenda to bring the manager down. it always goes like this:

Rebel : The man has got to go, he isn't good enough to manage us or take us to the next level
Loyalist : But we just finished 4th for the second time in three years, which is a remarkable achievement considering our current stature
Rebel : He failed to qualify for the Champion's League, he has to go
Loyalist : But we finished 4th, it's hardly Redknapp's fault that a team outside the top four won the CL. Especially when that team is probably in the best two in the country and underperformed due to their previous Manager.
Rebel : I don't care, the mandate is Champion's League qualification as a minimum. He failed and he has to go.
Loyalist : But before the season you said 5th place would be acceptable?
Rebel : I don't care, we did so well for a quarter of the season that the expectations changed. We should have finished 3rd, anything less and he had to go.
Loyalist : But you said it yourself, it was just a quarter of the season and shouldn't a Manager be judged over a full season?
Rebel : No, he is a ****. He has to go. We collapsed and that proves he is brick.
Loyalist : But our last four games show W3 D1?
Rebel : It was too late by then, the saggy faced **** has to go.
Loyalist : Why resort to name calling?
Rebel : Because he is a saggy faced **** who shows us no loyalty.
Loyalist : Isn't it ironic that you also won't show any loyalty to a Manager who has done so well with us?
Rebel : It's not the same, he wanted the England job and would've dropped us like a stone for it.
Loyalist : Maybe, but even if we had finished 3rd and he met all your criteria and showed loyalty and then we had the chance to get Mourinho what would you have done?
Rebel: Fired the saggy faced ****.
Loyalist : But surely that demonstrates hypocrisy?
Rebel : That's the problem with you pro-Redknapp fans, you aren't prepared to admit that Redknapp has any faults.
Loyalist : That's not true, I don't think I've ever seen anyone on here say Redknapp is perfect. Even his staunchist supporters know he has faults.
Rebel : So you admit he is brick then?
Loyalist : No, I am saying he deserves more credit than you're giving him for how well we've done.
Rebel : It isn't down to him, it's down to the players. He inherited a very good squad and the players have done excellent in the last three years covering up the saggy faced ****s flaws.
Loyalist : So Redknapp gets no credit for the success at all? In that case surely any poor form is also down to the players?
Rebel : No, if we play well it's because the players have got us there. If we don't, it's because the Manager fudged up.
Loyalist : So we'd win the league with the right Manager?
Rebel : Yes.
Loyalist : Really? You think we are good enough to win the Premiership?
Rebel : Yes, those 11 games earlier in the season proved it.
Loyalist : But using that sort of short term fixture subset, you could argue the run of poor results demonstrated we aren't good enough to win it?
Rebel : No, that run of poor games was down to the Manager.
Loyalist : But we didn't play that badly during that run, we were a little unlucky and it was a much tougher run than when we had our good run of form.
Rebel : We played awful, we were brick. Thanks to Redknapp.
Loyalist : But if we were brick, then surely the players are to blame too?
Rebel : No, well a couple of the players. Mainly players I don't rate. The players I rate, they're blameless and the Manager didn't get the best out of them. The players I don't rate, well it just goes to show what a useless **** Redknapp is picking them.
Loyalist : I do agree that I think we were too light in quality back up at times, and the Manager and Chairman must take responsibility for this. It was Lennon's injury that really seemed to unbalance us and we had no viable alternative.
Rebel : Levy is a GHod. Redknapp is a ****. None of this is Levy's fault, it's ALL Redknapp. It's pointless debating with you, because you don't agree with me.
Loyalist : OK.....well who would you replace Redknapp with then?
Rebel : AVB, Rodgers, Martinez etc.
Loyalist : Really? You think they're better than Redknapp?
Rebel : Yes, definitely.
Loyalist : So if they take over next season what are you expectations?
Rebel : We have to give them time.
Loyalist : OK, but if we finished outside of the top four next season with one of them in charge?
Rebel : It's to be expected, they're young and learning and they'd need time to build a team that can challenge for top four.
Loyalist: Surely we already have a team that can challenge for top four?
Rebel : The team is too old, Redknapp hasn't built for the future. It's going to take years to repair the damage he has done to the club.
Loyalist : But when you look at the outfield first team it's not old at all?!
Rebel : Are you taking the tinkle? Friedel, Nelsen, Saha, and Parker are fudging ancient.
Loyalist : But Friedel isn't an outfield player? Nelsen and Saha were just stop gaps until the end of the season and Parker isn't that old? Not to mention Sandro will probably take his place next season anyway? I doubt even Gallas will feature much next year.
Rebel : Gallas doesn't count, because he is class. Redknapp doesn't think long term, he is ruining us.
Loyalist : But according to various sources we have been in the market for younger players over the last couple of seasons but have failed to secure their services?
Rebel : That's Levy doing the deals, not Redknapp. Redknapp only wants to buy players over the age of 30 who he has seen on MOTD.
Loyalist : Walker, Sandro?
Rebel : Nothing to do with Redknapp. Levy bought them.
Loyalist : OK, so what about the players that have seemingly improved under Redknapp?
Rebel : They are older and have improved. Nothing to do with Redknapp.
Loyalist : OK, so IF Redknapp stays for next season what are the requirements for him to earn a new contract deal?
Rebel : Compete for the league title. We are good enough.
Loyalist : But you said in your list of replacements that a new Manager wouldn't be judged on the same? Surely that's not right?
Rebel : This is pointless. You don't know what you are talking about and you know nothing. You are so far up Harry's arse that you must be related and you refuse to accept that Redknapp has any faults. I am putting you on ignore.
