Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

I agree about pre-season, and last seasons 'slump' had some reasoning you could reconcile (although that's being lumped together with the 3 games this season for full effect), so is this all boiling down to 90 minutes versus Saudi Sportswashing Machine as we got pass Villa and knicked a point at the champions?

I think you are right in that there are a few things being compunded together.

Our run of games since the turn of the year is relegation form. That includes a huge chunk of Poch working miracles with a completely screwed group, and now the "fresh start" post the summer - a summer which actually went well.

Crux of it is, people expected something of a turn around/up swing, and instead we get more of the same - but without the excuses.

15 points from the last 15 games and an insipid loss in the CL Final

Time to turn this around and fast otherwise the door should beckon !!!

Yeah, that stinks of rank failure!

The last fifteen LEAGUE games. Interspersed with those were six highly-charged European matches. And the failure narrative doesn't have quite so much traction when those are factored in. So I note that they are airbrushed out of this recent narrative around the Internet of 15 points from 15 games. It's such a significant factor to last season that it cannot be just disregarded.
And this season, we've got 4 points from 3 games. With significant squad disruption and fitness issues to manage.
I'm willing to wait a bit more time before demanding a turnaround

i agree, after watching some of pre-season i thought we looked fresh. Some of the youngsters looked capable, Moura and Lamela looked handy and Kane well rested.

The thing is where was this line of criticism/despair when we'd gone downhill for 3,6,9,12 games since the new year last season? Was it reasoned out as we had legitimate excuses or looked over because of the CL run? If we were ok with that period then as i said before we're literally looking at the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game that has flared all this up.

Personally the team picked should easily have been good enough to get 3 points BUT we'd returned to the cautious no risk approach, together with lacking invention, variety and creativity. That might come from the manager, and probably does if it appears to be effecting the whole team. Maybe the 'not nice Poch' they don't want to upset?, so dont want to eff up? BUT pre-season looked the complete opposite...weird.

One problem, as i posted yesterday, if we play good or bad, we're not as good at the back now, so conceding is always on the cards.

Last season it made sense. Its not like people didnt see it, rather they could see it - AND see why. And it was fair to say, to a point, c'est la vie.

This season, as Ive said, that reasoning doesnt exist. There is straight up no reason why we shouldnt be performing better. No excuse. And I think that situation is exacerbated when there is realisation that maybe this could be a continuation of a long term issue.

That cautious approach, that lack of energy and dynamism, personally I think that comes from the manager, always. And to have him moaning about the squad being unsettled really concerns me - its his job to make sure that isnt so.

And the defence - I dont think its actually THAT bad, the issue is more a lack of cohesion in the team leaving our defence exposed. IMO of course.

This is not a prelude to bashing him because he is 'different' ?.......i hope not.
That's not different, that's batbrick crazy.

Now, I still hold onto the belief that Poch is just fudging with us all/the media and deflects attention by saying patently fudging stupid stuff about auras etc. I'll continue to hold that belief because the alternative is that the man's a fudging halfwit.

I sai yesterday that the DCM issue certainly doesn't help especially in comparison to what 2 of Dier/Wanyama/Dembele were giving a while back. But the defence is in transition, with the new guys still to prove it and 3 of the old guard, either getting older or leaving sometime soon.

If you reflect that situation onto what our expectations are and our hopes of improving every year......it's probably going to be a struggle (to improve) and not going to sort itself out for a couple of seasons.

So if he's done amazingly and is batbrick, he'd of done even better if he wasn't batbrick?

But he's done amazingly, agree?

I was thinking about this today and it’s completely crazy but Ndombele was our first and arguably only signing since the summer of 2016 that improves our strongest 11, the summer of 2017 buffed up the squad and Aurier, but let’s be realistic city bought Walker and could have bought any rb in the world we were never improving on him, January 17 saw Moura a fantastic addition but doesn’t make our strongest 11, and then Ndombele this summer, Lo Celso you could argue if Eriksen stays and everyone is on form doesn’t get in for me, and Sessegnon nobody actually knows what position Poch has in mind for him, so really you can see why Poch is getting more and more tinkled off on that basis and maybe even try and justify why players are looking for a out from their point of view three years is crazy and what worse is at the end of 16/17 we probably had the strongest starting 11 in the league to no better than third at best now, no wonder we are regressing and arguably looking stale.

PS what is the correct spelling of Ndombele that is what I see everywhere but my iPhone keeps auto correcting to N’Dombele.

Oh my! this could be a glimmer of batsh.ittery contributing to real tangible success........but how can we prove it?

Not statsbomb, obviously

Maybe tell him to kill off the batsh.ittery and see if all returns to mean... Or if the effect is that strong even serious relegation fears!

We're close, so close to a breakthrough....

Who dis???
