Toby Alderweireld

As far as theories go that's not out of the question and makes sense if they are in for 2 other CBs - though Morgan and Evans must be winding down by now so could be nothing more than that i guess

That would be my take.

Leicester have been absolute in not selling Maguire, and it would take by all accounts a world record fee to get him - if Man U arent interested in that I dont see that we would be.

Didn't Poch look at Maguire before? Right now, in a back three with Davo and Verts we'd look pretty good...seeing that we have accepted an offer from a Prem club for Dembele, I wonder, could it be Leicester? Who knows, this has certainly been the most intriguing window for a long time. I am actually enjoying its TBH!

Rumour on TFC (via SC) is that its Fulham in for Dembele. Honestly baffles me as to why he would do that over Milan, but either way Im relatively comfortable cashing in on him.

I think, given the money involved, the links to Tah would make more sense than Maguire.

Dembele said he wouldn't join another PL club

However he does also say in that piece that his family are settled in London, kids in school and all that, so a move back to Fulham wouldn't be that bad. Also a few brownie points for Spurs if we pursue Sessegnon in the future. Good deal all round I'd say

Back to Maguire. Apparently his agency is a company run by Paul Stretford, Rooney's agent and thus has very strong links with Man Utd. So I guess that puts Utd in a strong position to get Maguire

Could Utd buy Maguire and Alderweireld?

Still makes little sense to me - unless Fulham are offering a silly deal (big wages/long contract) why would he go there? And even then - do they top playing for Milan?

The big man is a really chilled character. He has said he doesnt think much about the game when he goes home, definitely said he doesn't watch football on TV, maybe he isn't motivated like the typical footballer is. He had a big money offer from China but turned it down.

Big thing is that Spurs want him off the wage bill, plus his sale makes a nonHG space in the squad, and we would rather get some money as a transfer fee now than nothing at all in a years time

To be clear - Im not against letting him go at all. I think the time is right. And I dont have an issue with that being to Fulham either, if thats what he wants.

Im just a little perplexed as to why he would turn down someone like Inter for Fulham.

I said before - Serie A is literally perfect for a player like Dembele. The slower pace, and care they give to older players would be ideal for him. AND he still gets to make a run at the title and CL.

Or he could move to a newly promoted club in the Premiership

Surely Maguire isn't happy about being in Leicester though?

All it takes is a proper club to make public noises about wanting to sign him, a word in his agent's ear and he can force his way out.

His kids don't have to change school and Fulham can probably pay him more?

Its the only thing that stands, otherwise - Milan, CL, title run, and effective semi retirement.

Compared to Fulham, likely premier league struggles, and with PL demands likely a shorter career too...

Still wont make him cheap/affordable though.

And Leicester are closing in on two new CBs for £35m. Hmmmm.....

Basically Man Yoo want Toby. We came to an impasse because we want Martial (100%) and United don't want to sell him to a direct rival (just as we dont want them to have Toby in a one way deal). So thats parked where it is.

United are after other options (genuinely), if they turn out to be too expensive (probably not for United though), to hard to negotiate etc they know that a phone call to Levy saying Martial can be part of a deal will green light everything. I'm 100% sure if Martial can come the other way, it's a goer for us.

And if it does happen, imo Poch will take a risk with not getting another CH in if we can't nail one down. Jan, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth, Davies, CCV will have to do. Fingers crossed we can get the Ajax kid at short notice.

@DubaiSpur My dear man I have been ruminating on our debate the other day about selling Toby to Man Utd. The view I expressed was me agreeing with how I think Levy will handle things. I still think that is what Levy will do, however I think you will be happy to know that after consideration I think we should give Man Utd an ultimatum, an exchange for Martial or no deal. However I fear that could only work if Poch is happy to work with Toby this coming season and play him.

We want Martial and they want Toby, ii is a deal that suits both parties but they just want to screw us over. I say fuk 'em.

Interesting that Leicester are about to sign two new centre backs for a combined sum of around 40 mill, a big Croat from Zagreb and a Turk playing in Germany.

They already have Maguire, Morgan, Evans and Benalouane as centre backs

There seems to be talk that the Alderweireld transfer to Utd has been agreed and is just waiting for the green light once Spurs have found their replacement

Could it be that we are waiting for the club of our target to bring in a replacement or two?

Maguire to Spurs?

Could make sense. Only 25, English, we have scouted him heavily before when he was at Hull, is on around 40k a week at Leicester so we could more than double that and he would still fit within out wage structure. A load of England teammates at Spurs talking him into joining

Yeah, I like Maguire but can,t see it happening...unless Mourinhos not too keen on him.
If we offload a couple of defenders to manure in the next few hours as rumoured It would be wise obviously to replace one of them!

No we can't It's a release clause and anyone who meets it can sign him If they agree terms with the player - he'll end up at Arsenal or Chelsea as he's reportedly very settled in London.

But hey we've made stand right
Didn't Liverpool resist Arsenal's attempt to activate the buyout clause for Suarez? Could we not do the same? Also if he stays perhaps he could repair his alleged damaged relationship with Poch, and extend his deal. For what it's worth I think the Toby/ Martial deal will happen tomorrow when the clubs stop playing silly buggers with each other.

Thought manure had already bought Maguire..lol. Can't see us getting him from foxes then.
