I can appreciate the Foos being over-rated. Middle of the road, FM friendly rock = boring. All gone downhill since the Colour and the Shape.

I don't agree, then again they're my number 1 band, so I guess it just shows that opinion is personal. I really like the Wasting Light album, heh, I wake up to their music every morning these days, their songs are my alarm clock.

wasting light is awesome, arlandria is absolutely magnificent, I love in your honour as well, in fact l love everything they have ever done, if I had to suggest a weak effort it would be one by one but that has all my life on it

he's also a very good looking and erudite man, I saw a talk he did once and his love of music shine through, he was wailing and banging the desk doing a tape to tape on a ****ty recorder but everyone was captivated

I'd leave my wife for him

Sad to say I'm with him! They are overrated IMO, and I love old Kyuss, etc...

Their first two albums are the bees knees though, only glimpses after that. But if somebody had mentioned Kyuss in this thread I'd be livid.

Over-rated though? They aren't rated that highly from what I gather. They don't headline big international festivals. In the Coachella announcement just now, they are second line, with Muse first line.

Certainly within the industry itself, they are highly rated, which is why when Dave Grohl wants to play in a real band, he knocks out a sessions with the Queens.

But as far as public profile goes, I don't think they are seen in the same light as RHCP, Foos, Muse, Killers, Green Day and other rock bands of that ilk but I'd take QOTSA over any of those in a heart beat.

those Ricky Gervais cartoon podcasts that HBO done. an hour of two unfunny bastards making fun of an idiot

They're consistently the chin-stroking rocker's favorite band, eliciting 'ooohs' and 'ahhhs' with 'so cool' and whatnot. Chili Peppers aren't what they were in the late 80s/early 90s, and none of the others every excited me much (Green Day are fun I suppose)…but the closest actual comparison to QOTSA is a band called Masters Of Reality, who were absolutely superb. The link is Chris Goss, who produced Kyuss early on and basically launched Josh Homme…MOR blow them ALL away...
