*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace FC ***

As I said earlier in the thread, it’s taken years of gaslighting by those at the very top to make the fanbase (and the players) feel it’s acceptable that we rock up for games with excuses to lose.

Pay your £70, buy some pints and a pie, and take the loss on the chin. There’s a cup final to look forward to!

This is only the second time in how many seasons we've not qualified for Europe due to our league position?

We've sacked managers for less to try and get qualification back on track

I personally don't think a club finishing in the top 7 consistently over 15 years or so shows the club think it's acceptable to lose before this season

Our league position is exactly the reason we are saving our players, we've had nothing to play for in the league for months. We have a cup final with a CL spot at stake, it's not rocket science to work out why we played a shadow team today....

I generally like and agree with a lot of your posts but I can’t accept this link of thinking. There’s no excuse for us sitting in 17th, cup final or no cup final.

There is no excuse, and he should go at the end of the season regardless.

But a win today wouldn't have changed anything.
We rested players, most of, that played mid week so they aren't overplayed so we can have a better chance in the finals.

That's the only saving grace for our season, not Anges

It's going to be said game after game if the performances are a shambles game after game. You know the way to avoid the criticisms? Play well.

Again if we were wining every game 5 nill you wouldn't be complaining about the no doubt repetitive praise that would no doubt be a constant feature. So why is it an issue when the critique follows the nature of our results? Is it only ok if the repetitive commentary is of the positive kind?
I’m a glass half full guy so I’m on the positive side of things. But despite this I’ll be honest I got a bit sick and tired of the love in during our first 10 games of last season.

Not because it was overly positive but because it was repetitive. I look for original thoughts that will give me new insights. It’s why during that period I was interested in the problems people noticed with our style of play despite the results.

Similarly now, the negatives have been done to death, so the original thoughts are looking for the positives. What’s good that we can hold onto and build on, so as to avoid throwing out the baby with the bath water.

It's fine to disagree mate.

I'm not making an excuse for where we are in the league, I'm talking about specifically this match. The discussion was around Palace playing their full team, there is no pressure on their Cup final as great as it would be for them to win it. We really need to win and get CL football, it's right we rested our players. Also, we played Thursday night - Palace did not....

Date : 11/05/25
K.O : 14.15pm
Venue : NWHL

Actually looking forward to this tomorrow, fans of both teams will be happy as both in finals in the next couple of weeks and another game for me in which I'm able to take my little girl which makes me very happy and it's going to be 25c too !!
The result didn't ruin a day with my little girl
She made me laugh a few times

She loved giving it to the Palace fans after their 1st goal was chalked off from VAR

We got to 75 mins and she said, you know what Daddy, it's not happening for us today is it, if I'm honest I think we should leave as they don't deserve anymore of our time today

Walking through the train station, the barrier guard was giving it it the big one to any Spurs fans
She said to him, we may be Spurs fans but at least we don;t have to stand all day in a shed opening up a barrier for people to walk though

The last one had me creased up

I'm not idealogically locked to any one system (other than a general dislike of 3 at the back) so it's not so much him not doing what I want or perceive to be right. It's that what he is doing isn't working and he is unwilling or unable to change things positively.

In terms of accepting it I have done. That's why I go into every game expecting to lose because I do have that acceptance that he is again either unwilling or unable to adjust.

I have 0 angst, just acceptance of our fate. Honestly I said real early on this season it wouldn't work so yeah there's no anger here, but I reserve the right to comment as and when I see fit about ineptitude that I witness.

Im real life I'm not a man for excuses either, I believe in holding people accountable for Thier actions. Context is obviously important but context doesn't necessarily change the story it just gives more light to it.

Right. You saw that last season from CFC home game on; he made it very clear. You were either a fan of that approach or not. Of course you could've been a fan and subsequently shifted your position, but essentially, I think many people found that high line with 9 men bizarre. So essentially, you are expressing the same complaint for over a year; fair enough I suppose.

...right, and I reserve the right to comment as and when I see fit on the cyclic nature of such criticism.

...I am exactly the same. I expect accountability and honesty. You are far from unique in that perspective. Where we differ in this instance is that the story has been what it is for some time, the END of the story is coming soon, and thus personally, I find constantly repeating his faults futile. The context today was that we are (as a club) only really interested in one game. The debates about whether our squad is good enough for top 10 (let alone 4) have been had, and will continue. The manager will undoubtably change this summer, then we will see if Dansos and Odoberts are really of the calibre we need supporting cast to be.

Just out of curiosity.

What do you think the argument would be of someone (not you) who thought he should get a repreive. What would they point to as reasons for being optimistic that things would change?

I genuinely have no idea beyond the 'he won so he deserves another chance' viewpoint. I have long concluded that his system can only work with elite players and backups. Hansi Flick has a similar approach with Barca, but that's Barca, a club where you would never ever expect to see Dansos or Odoberts. Our compatibility is simply not there. I'd be intrigued to know if Munn and Lange knew Ange would be so relatively inflexible in certain situations? I hope they did, because he has been consistent through his career.

went to a book launch thing near Hyde park
Was lovely in the sun although always amazes me the amount of tourists
Daughter got a shout out so have a pleased 11 year old
Seen my whys app group all have kittens about the game
Glad I gave my seat to the guy next to me to take his grandkids

In all honesty i dont think anyone should expect any wins or even draws from our remaining games. The team at this point are just showing up. They are all concentrating on the Final. We are very fortunate that there were 3 worse teams and we secured our survival a long time ago.

On the other hand i feel it is unacceptable to lose as many as we have this season. We might aswell field the reserves or the youth team for the next game as noone will show up again.

Hopefully we have 1 last performance left in ourselves for the final as it seems that United are in the same mood as us. Not to mention United actually turn up to finals something we haven’t been doing lately
