22 league defeats...

Twenty two...

Twenty bl**dy two!!!

A Premier League record number of defeats for any side that has managed to avoid relegation!

I will love Ange forever for the Europa but there is nothing to suggest anything would change long term over the course of another season, Even moreso with the added difficulty of the CL games to contend with.

Can I love him but still want him replaced?

Only if you're a miserable clam like the rest of us who feel the same as you do.

Apparently not. Only unconditional love is allowed. See, I can strawman too.

1. I can make that claim about any other manager linked with us, none of us know one way or another. I will also go out on a limb and predict that none will win anything at Spurs (based on history).
2. Spence, Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel, Danso, Solanke will all have a season under their belt, and we can expect them to be better.
3. I doubt we'll see that level of injuries again, or the level of impact. The squad is a lot stronger than when we started the season. We only had this squad at the end of January, and by then it was too late for the league.
4. The 22 losses are skewed by the decision to concentrate on the EL, and the fact that relegation wasnt a worry. So if we didn't have EL I would guess that number would be lower. And one of those losses was down to the mother of all tinkle ups.
5. I don't think Ange is the sort of person who doesn't learn from his mistakes.
6. Fill some squad/first team holes that everyone is aware of.
7. We have actually got a manager who can get it over the line, a winning mentality. How many others have come up short in semis and finals?
8. We've got nothing to lose. If he's that bad again, replace him before the January window. If he's not that bad, but not that good, replace him at the end of the season. That way we'll know for sure, and can move onto the next incumbent. Sack him now, and it's an eternity of GG arguments.

Fair enough, You make some decent points.

I wouldn't say losing every week in the league is a winning mentality.

I would argue he does seem like the kind of person that doesn't learn from his mistakes. If he did then he could have used some of the tactical nouse he applied in Europe in some of those 22 defeats when Ange ball left gaping holes in our defence week in week out.

I get it though, If he stays and improves the squad and it all starts to click then ill be happy as Larry.

The only thing that matters next season is to qualify for the CL again.

We have two paths to that, being one of the best teams in the division, or winning the European Cup.

Therefore the question is, does another season of Angeball give us a realistic expectation of either?

All the players are 100% behind Ange, but I guess a few on here know more than them.

Unfortunately, that will never be the case at any football club with any manager.

The good news is Ange has critical mass and the players who aren't totally behind him are outwardly supporting him at least. They are being professional about their jobs and that actually didn't happen with recent squads of Spurs players. That is an important shift in culture.

No manager can ever keep every player happy. Problem is, you can only ever select 11.

Weren't Villa also in danger of getting relegated under Gerrard after he had just won the league in Scotland too? Completely different level of football

Brenton Rodgers has not only completed the treble twice with Celtic but also managed an invincible domestic season,

However his only silverware south of the border is that FA Cup with Leicester, which was Maddison’s only trophy until this week… birds of a feather…

Well he’s failed to win a single CL game after 8 attempts at doing so with Celtic and even without the distraction of European football couldn’t get us into top 4 last season (ahead of a Villa team who were in Conference League until 9th of May) so let’s hope his 3rd season is truly his best yet!

Some poster on SC :)

obviously take this with a pinch of salt…My pal who runs an executive taxi firm picked up someone who’s good mates with Thomas Franks no.3 at Brentford. He reckons frank got the call yesterday and the job’s his. Whoever his no.3 is is coming with him as his no.2 for us. Im Ange in so this info has annoyed me a bit, my pal is a gooner so I was dubious but he doesn’t even gamble and went in to put a bet on it today.

Here are some facts regarding Thomas Frank. Personally, I'd take him over several of the other candidates being mentioned simnply because he has some synergy with Lange (providing the latter is still going to be part of things) and he will adapt. However, when you look at his record -when you actually consider that his record over the years with Brentford has seen him essentially not do very much beyond the righteous job of estabishing them as a Prem club- I have to ask why people think he is a good choice to step in and handle the reigns at a club which has broken pretty much every previous manager bar Postecoglu (I include Poch in that, they broke him and it will always appall me)? Genuine question(s) here, what suggest Frank could make a fist of it in the PL and CL at the same time, and perhaps look for a domestic cup too? What suggests he can bring us back into the CL via league placings?
