Yea ok. It’s mediocre level of football. It’s not comparable to top tier European football.

As I say there’s levels to it and Ange is not at the top level. No matter what he won in Aus/ Japan.

I go every week and it is not mediocre. It may not be the Premier League, it's still very fudging impressive to win it -- even more so via a translator.

That you denigrate says more about you than Ange.

In this instance it's because you've posted a list of Ange's achievements in the game as to why he is a better manager than Frank and so people are looking to add some context to it?

Listing what the current manager has won and what the bookies favourite's has won. I don't see what Steven Gerrard's got to do with that?

I don't personally see what relevance either of those two lists have wrt who would do do a better job with us next season or for that matter who is the better manager - same way i didn't give a toss about Mourinho or Contes achievements prior to managing us.

However, Gerrard winning the SPL clearly shows how much weight should be put on any achievement north of the border.

Why do people bring out these comparisons like they mean anything? One bloke did one thing once and suddenly it's a sign of what Spurs should do?

The comparison is that winning the league in Scotland does not mean you will do well in the Premier league so in my opinion the fact he was won leagues in Scotland and Japan means very little when it comes to managing Spurs.

So league 1 / Championship say? That would be fair. Still does not mean you are Prem level. We would not be looking at Championship level even if winning the league.

You listed his achievements as some sort of marker as a proven winner. Level is important in this case.

Ok, ignore them then. Does the Europa League count? If not, which competitions do count?

You can downplay him all you want. I'll continue to use the Premier League players that speak of him so glowingly as a better barometer than a bloke on a forum.

D ick Advocaat, Neil Lennon, Brendan Rodgers, Martin O’Neill…I think the SPL argument isn’t even an argument.

I just don't understand Tommy's line of thinking here - he's literally listed two managers career achievements in order to answer a question over who is the better PL manager (we'll gloss over the fact that that alone as a response is nonsensical) and then he acts incredulous that in response to that people then compare two managers who have won the same competition - make it make sense!

If Steven Gerrard's name was in the running, then yes, I'd consider what he's won too! Otherwise, I don't give a fudge.

Gerrard didn't win the league, Celtic lost it.
The guys a fraud

Of course Europa League counts but again, with no CL drop outs the best we came up against was Frankfurt.

We weren't convincing against Ferencváros, Roma or Rangers.

We got spanked against Galatasaray and lost against AZ Alkmaar.

Righto Carl. Let's leave it there, you're depressing the fudge out of me.

Yeah, and with the 'underdog' team up there too.
