****OMT****Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham 8pm Friday 5th May

If Dembele was fit, he should have been playing at least. Wanyama and Dier is not a good pairing for me. I know they played last weekend and it went well, but it becomes a bit static and not dynamic enough.

Yeah
Last week though we played a team that wanted to attack
From everything I've heard of this game West game set up to just defend

Very true. A Chelsea who had no Europe and no major injury problems with better resources to call upon from the bench. Take that into account and we have been superb for two seasons running!

Fab has 9 assists and 4 goals in the PL - I don't think Sissoko/Janssen/winks have that between them!

Not a dig at winks

Next season will be interesting in the league. All the top sides will have European football. There surely won't be another freak like Leicester. So, amongst the top teams with European games, we should have as good a chance as any to win the league...but can we get over this psychological block that seems to come over the side when we have a sniff of going top or winning a cup?

I think we need to go top. I think we are the kind of side that would be great front-runners, we just need to get there. In Poch I trust.

Or is the top big a pitch a Wembley, or the Wembley jinx, or something else gonna cost us

One of those games. They were up for it. They put in a mighty shift. We have been under pressure to win, win, win for weeks. If finally caught up with us.

After 60 mins i thought to myself i could see them getting a scrappy goal and hanging on to a 1-0 win. They just seem to fight hard in their own place against us. And they dont mind just sitting.

We did not do enough to win. That is true. But I will never believe that just because a team puts in a high work ethic and sits deep that they deserve a win. They can only play those tactics because of how we play.

So. One win to confirm second. So now its a time for us to not give up at the end and secure the 2nd spot, show the players we want who we are and who we are going to be.

As for our team. Walker looks like he is done. Or unfit. They never really got going. We need more quality from the wide positions to open them up as they clogged up the middle. We needed a Fit Walker and rose to open
up that width. Son was invisible. Kane, Eriksen and Alli tried but nothing came off. When a team sits so deep you need the width to try and open them up or a corner.

West Ham did well. They sat in, and went in hard and quick on our lads at every opportunity. It worked as we never got any sort of rhythm going. They often played it long into the channels which were conveniently vacated by our full backs and then chased it down with every ounce of their energy.

Spurs fudged around with the ball at the back and tried some impossible passes including a disproportionate amount of long balls to Kane, of which he won the sum total of none. We had no real discernable tactics to break them down and to be honest really got what we deserved.

it's perspective, tonight it's on us

if Spurs only had supporters when we win we'd have been shut down to lack of interest decades ago, there isn't a Spurs fan amongst us whose known more good than bad

ps, if i was gonna be a glory hunter west ham isn't a great suggestion is it

Performances like tonight always leave a bitter taste but chin up mate, we can go into the Utd game, give The Lane a good send-off and secure 2nd place. You'll feel better about things when we do that.

Interesting interview from Poch, I quite like it. Not fuming. Almost putting it back onto the players to prove to him they've still got it, like he knows he's done a good job this season and now the players need to show they can carry it through. Also good to not over react, to keep it cool. I can imagine Sherwood for example giving quite an emotional interview. Poch is a leader, and he knows there's still work to do.

Bit of an odd feel about the team tonight. We obviously weren't at it, but there are some things that were strange. Why no Dembele? Probably a knock but he's had a few days to recover surely since Arsenal? Why not switch to 343 and match them? 4231 barely ever works against a team that wants to defend back into a 5. Why play Walker, and need us to use one of our subs on a full back when he just wasn't at it?

I don't know if there is a mix of Poch needing to do certain things out of principal (which may actually be the right thing to do in the long run) but it just felt odd tonight.

Even so, Poch and his team have earned our trust. And we should be immensely proud of the team this year. We've been the best side.

Its because Poch took West Ham away for granted isn't it?
I don't think he expected the intensity of the game.

We've had a good run. It's disappointing to fudge up against a brick side like wet spam, but I suspect the players have more or less given up on the title, as it seems unlikely for us to win it, even if we'd won today. Talking about maturity, if we lose today, we'll really see what this team is made of. All about securing second place now and showing that we're mentally stronger this year.

I think we have already showed we a lot more mentally stronger this season as opposed to last season

Tonight was a case of them having the game of their season and us being below par

Happens this is football
