Aaron Lennon

Interesting how there is no clamour about him bleeding the club dry, ala Ade, now that it is clear that he too has no future. I don't think his wages are at Ade's level but I would guess they are around or in excess of 50 - 60K....

The difference is Lennon will happily move on if the move is right and wants to play whereas no one has a fecking clue what Ade wants or thinks.

It just feels rotten when the guy has given 10 years service. Nothing wrong with saying he's not in the managers plans but not being a squad number just seems a bit bricky. Guess it makes sense still. Hope he gets a move soon and shows he still has plenty of good years in him.

I agree with you completely. 10 years service should mean a lot. If only we knew what has been going on for him to be treated this way. Poch seems very fair, so you can only assume it's something quite severe.

That's because there's a perception - rightly or wrongly - that Adebayor has been - and is being - in some way unreasonable in his demands, whereas there's no suggestion that's the case with Lennon... if Everton met our asking price, for example - no one thinks Lennon would refuse to relocate to Liverpool, or demand an additional pay-off, or whatever it is that Adebayor is supposed to be doing.

For it to get to the point with Adebayor (as it seems to) with the clubs agreeing terms, the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms, for it to all fall apart at the 11th hour because Ade only then realises Aston Villa are in Birmingham... it smacks of taking the tinkle.

Fact is, I don't think any of us know why Lennon's out in the cold (exiled as opposed to simply being surplus to requirements). But I don't think there's any sense he won't move on as soon as he can.

For all we know, Lennon could be a matter of days away from sealing a permanent transfer away from the club - or at least headed well down that path.

In which case, it would surely have been utterly pointless to have given him a squad number? I can't imagine that, in such circumstances, Lennon would take any offence. Even less, that any was meant.

Unless its because of off-the-field reasons? Punching that woman in the club. Perhaps its Cullen's orders that he can't be involved?

All the off the field stuff sounds like exaggerated bollcoks by people not ITK

He was also an Everton player at the time wasn't he?

Either way I'd put it down the fact that Poch simply doesn't want him and by not giving him a squad number is makes even more suitors aware

He got drunk on Joe Lewis yacht and apparently was insulting and according to a player 'was an embarrasment' he also turned up last year to an official event tinkled and I even have photos that show him gone. That night he was put in a cab.

When Poch joined his fitness stats were a source of argument. I have no idea about any reported spat or dressing room incident tho. All of that is true but I am sure there is probably more to it

If that is really the case, then the backlash against him should be as big as Adebayor's since that would be extremely unprofessional behaviour.

Had it confirmed by someone today who works day in and day out at the training ground (not giving away the source but they are reputable) that Lennon turned up at training just after the Chelsea away defeat, maybe mid Dec and was still visibly drunk from the night before and that is the main reason for his exclusion although other stuff has gone on that adds into his problems although I have no confirmation of what those are.

That would be the game where he was at fault for their winner wasn't it? If that is true (and I guess something bad off the field must have happened because he's quite clearly good enough to be playing everything else being equal) then it is unacceptable.

Almost all of the above is true. Not sure of their source but mine have told me countless times about his misdemeanours sadly.
What a bloody shame mate always one of my favourite players. I do wonder why Everton haven't signed him up yet, do they have question marks over his conduct.

Yes absolutely they have concerns.

I've seen him in the players lounge after matches. Just a prize prick. It's sad that uneducated tossers like him are so well paid over hard working genuine folk. Clearest example of 'Gone to their head' ever is Lennon.

But, yet again, Ade is demonised and Lennon apparently is "unfortunate" in many fans' books!!!

I've never seen Lennon look as disinterested as ade (in fairness vertonghen wins that hands down) but throw in his attitude to preseason. Not to mention family issues, it seems he even milks these when you take other sports stars attitudes to dealing with such issues. Europa league etc. Lennon doesn't come close.

I will not condone the incidents that have been mentioned ( if true) but its a pity because he is still better then anything we have in his position.

Lennon could have been a Spurs legend after being a Spurs player for 10 years. But despite scoring 26 goals in 267 matches, don't think he will be remembered fondly by the Spurs fans. I think his apparent lack of discipline and mental strength has cost him dearly. But still wish Pochettino had try to make use of Lennon's talents instead of dropping him instantly.

He's available to Everton and most likely for a good price considering his age and league experience, 10m-15m for a 29 year old winger supposedly good enough for a side going for top 4? trouble is he isn't actually that good and they're only interested in him as a squad option - which begs the question why do people think he's good enough for us? I think it's more because of the type of player he is than his quality - people like him because he's a winger who goes outside/stays wide and that's how people want us to play, but he impacts games in an attacking sense no more than Townsend and far less than our other attacking midfielders/wide options - 1 in 10 goal rate over his career and a negligible assist count also. He's not the answer.

Personally if there wasn't the off the field issues if have him in front of Townsend as a squad option as he is a far superior player defensively which is important in our current team - but ideally we would sign someone better than both.
