Africa Cup of Nations - 2013

KD mate...when you called the B.F. loss and Togo win today, don't think I didn't see your mercurial reverse mojo at work my friend. I NEARLY commented at the time, but figured I shouldn't mess with a master at work. We can thank YOU for Ade's return!!!!!

Good work!!!!

\o/

We're going to draw vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine btw 2-2. Even i can't save us for that one :(

My only worry about Holtby and Ade is that Holtby's never shown the prolificness of a VdV, who really benefited from an Ade/Crouch. However he feeds wingers very well and Ade likes to drift out wide so Bale can hopefully exploit Ade's space in the center and make up for those goals, and I don't doubt that Ade would MUCH prefer playing with him than Defoe.

As far as im concerned, Defoe being out is a blessing in disguise.

Ade needs to feel like he is THE MAN. And he wont feel like that if he has Defoe breathing down his neck.

Defoe offers 2 things to us. Goals and fudge all. And it is clear which one he is offering us at the moment. Whereas Ade may be wasteful, he offers a hell of alot more. Can hold up the ball, be an aerial threat, and i should hope he'll be completely up for his first game back!!

I agree. Something had to happen to end the Ade/Defoe partnership. Hopefully Ade will make the most of this opportunity.

That made me chuckle. I pray that Ades little vacation will see his form pickup.

I would suggest then that Ade is NOT THE MAN. If he cant handle competition he is in the wrong profession.

Think there's a lot of truth in that. He has an ego and needs to know he's starting and is needed. I rate him much more highly than Defoe and, like others, think he suits our game better. Whilst we'll still play 4-4-1-1, with the addtion of Holtby and Ade up top rather than Defoe, we could almost play 4-3-3 with Parker, Dembele and Holtby in midfield and Bale, Ade and Lennon up top. Not sure there's enough goals in that midfield though...

Frankly if he had that fire in him we wouldn't be getting him for 5m! Hell, we might not be getting him at all, because with the heart of a winner he'd be starting at Madrid right now.

We gotta make the best of what we got. Like Saudi Sportswashing Machine, we have to take those gambles on players who have the talent but perhaps not quite the mentality since they're the ones we can afford, and make up for their deficiencies elsewhere. Ade is not perfect by any means but his unselfishness is a tonic in a team with plenty of selfish players already. The ability to produce 17 goals, 11 assists in one season is well worth the psychologist costs and kid-gloving imo.

I want burkina faso to win. Not because of Ade but because they have the FESPACO film festival and are a very important part of the African film industry (well at least they were when I was a film student many moons ago!)

defoe has been rubbish for weeks, dempsey is better than him

i don't trust Ade

ENIC have fudged us over again

Lloris bale and Holtby might save us

give obika a go

exaclty what i was thinking and if it was true that he does not like having another player breathing down his neck for a place in the team then how will he feel when we eventually buy another striker

Ade's got to be on his way back asap now Togo are out.

Is Saudi Sportswashing Machine going to come too soon for him though? First class flight from South Africa is only 11 hours of luxury (usually overnight) which means he could/should be rested enough.

Shouldn't really be a problem. He should be back in London before or around the same time most of his team mates who have international matches this midweek leave on their international duty.

Might need some recovery time after playing 120 minutes on a terrible pitch, but unless he's picked up some kind of injury he should be fine for the weekend.

Judging on his performance tonight, there's little chance he'll be tired.

What other choice do we have? If he's fit, he plays.

A lot of our players will be involved in mid week international friendlies. Ade should be fresher than them by Saturday.
