Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

Tottenham and Fulham are on standby to battle it out for Udinese-owned striker Matej Vydra, 21, if Watford fail to win promotion from the Championship.

They probably got it from reports in Croatia which make the same claim.

Looks quick and very strong in this youtube compilation. Mostly right footed (but with a decent left foot) and plays mostly as a left sided forward. Decent footwork. Possibly a tad on the selfish side.

To the extent that anything can be gleaned from this kind of compilation, he's raw but promising. Worth a punt anyway:

Yeah. Going by nothing more than the videos he looks raw but with all the right attributes (pace, strength, skill, finishing). Looks like he plays left of a front 3, but I'd imagine he'll develop into a #9 later in his career like often happens with such players (e.g. Henry, Sturridge).

Would be nice with a couple of early signings. Takes a bit of pressure off the rest of the window and maybe other clubs won't think of us as desperate when enquiring about players.

All I got from that is that there are some brick Croatian defenders out there.

To be fair we did Verts and Siggy early last summer, and Fryers and Holtby early in January.

Rebic and Leandro in to fix our frontline before June would be pretty exciting.

Brillian ITK over from SC:

Ok guys i have a lovely bit of ITK for you.

My cousin is a black cab driver and he just picked up Alan Pardew in Covent Garden.

He said the players and management have been given an incentive to win the game. Also Levy has put in a bid for CABAYE! Sticking point is the price.

When asked if he (Cabaye) counted on remaining at St. James' Park, the France international, who signed a five-year deal when he joined Alan Pardew's side in 2011, said: "For the moment, yes. There's one game left, we're going to try and finish well before the holidays. With regards a transfer, I have agents who take care of that aspect of things.
"[PSG] are a big club with a great project. But I've been playing in the Premier League for the last two years. I feel good here. I would be happy to continue in England."

Anyone else find it slightly odd that he says he'd be happy to continue in England, rather than he'd be happy to continue at Saudi Sportswashing Machine?

I was discussing the newspaper article.. just thought the ITK was relevant as that is where the 'Cabaye to spurs' rumour originated.. :-"

ITK is never relevant, but more importantly:

Villas-Boas was also asked whether he is interested in Southampton’s prodigious left-back Luke Shaw, and he replied: “Any player who makes a breakthrough at the age that he has is absolutely unbelievable, but it doesn’t mean there is direct interest from Tottenham in the player. But he’s a wonderful footballer, for sure.”

Doesn't sound as if we're in for Shaw.

well he's not exactly gonna come out and say "yes, we want Luke Shaw" :).......I think the overwhelming praise he heaps on Shaw however is enough to suggest that Spurs are interested and will be straight in there give half the chance
