*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Anzhi ex-Moneybagscashcowala OMT ***

There's not enough between the seeded teams and the unseeded teams for it to make a difference imo. We could still end up playing dynamo kyiv, real betis, lazio, galatasaray, cska moscow, porto, ajax or psv. Some of the top seeds are ludogorets razgrad, red bull salzburg, genk and poak!

The only team definitely qualified as unseeded are Anzhi, who we can't be drawn against. There are some strong teams that could potentially be in the unseeded group but on balance, when the final 32 are known, I'm sure there will be a greater number of 'difficult teams' in the seeded group.

Salzburg and PAOK have reached the last 32 but aren't guaranteed to be seeded.

Works Christmas meal in Leeds!!!! (why??) on Thursday night, so wont get to see this. Text alerts off the wife as the goals go in..hopefully.
Hate to miss a game, but at least its this one, could have been a lot worse.

Looking forward to the draw on Friday though

I'm afraid you'll be in suspense a little longer - the draw is not until Monday 16th at 12.00 GMT. It will be followed by a draw for the next round.

The only team worth worrying about in the draw are the Champion's League teams.
The teams in the groups of europa league are all poor. Look at where the teams from the big countries are in their respective leagues Italy(5th and 12th), Germany(14th and 15th) and Spain(8th,9th,20th). We're stuck in a competition with midtable sides waiting for 8 decent sides to join it.

I'd all be for qualifying first if we could avoid those 8 but 4 of them will be seeded and 4 unseeded. It makes a mockery of the seeding and its a waste of time trying to finish top.
Liverpool finished top of their group last year and then were drawn against Zenit from the Champion's League and were knocked straight out.

Thanks for the heads up, didnt realise that, hadnt it been on Friday after the last group match for the last few years?

Agree. And having the CL dropouts in it in the first place makes it more of a mockery. They've had their chance in Europe, if they finished 3rd in a Group of four then thats tough sh#t

Useful stats:
Anzhi hasn't scored in 7 consecutive matches in RPL. They even can't score from a penalty.
Anzhi hasn't won a single match during EPL season (D8, L11). They're bottom of the league.
Anzhi has already made a KO stage of Europe League (sometimes this tournament makes me :ross:).

Having spent so much money on our squad and already ensuring progress I will be angry if AVB doesn't play an entire second team for this. They should be enough to beat a very crap Anzhi side. A runout for Rose would be useful on his road to fitness and perhaps another chance for Lamela to shine under the lights.

COYS

Didnt realise we qualified.

In that case id play a bunch of unknowns and be done with this round.

Pictures of Eriksen ready to train on Spurs Official twitter this morning.
Be good for him and Rose to get 60 mins under their respective belts.
I'd also give Soldado a start in the hope he remembers how to score.

Play the first teamers who are not going to be in the starting XI against Liverpool like Gylfi, Lamela, Soldado(?), Townsend(?) and so on. They need matches to stay sharp. Then fill the rest of the team with kids. No one who is meant to start against Liverpool should play.
