Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

Good plan if the high class escort wants us, but keep the plan Z.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

When i see a photo like that showing the shape of the new stadium soon to engulf the old, a part of me starts to get all sentimental. The cold reality dawns that the historic, intimate stadium I've stood and sat in for over 50 years is soon to be demolished - albeit for an urgently-needed glittering modern amphitheatre - brings a lump to the throat.

Agreed. I've only been to WHL about 20-ish times, but on my last few visits I've made sure I've always soaked in the atmosphere as much as I could, knowing it will be history in a few years time. I can imagine it will feel much more emotional for those of you who have gone there on a regular basis for years.

As much as the new stadium will probably be state of the art, comfortable, convenient and practical, I'm far too nostalgic to look forward to that now. It will be a sad day when WHL is torn down, hopefully at least it will be the beginning of even better times for the club.

And of course, bowl, oval, square or rectangular, I'll still go see Spurs whenever I can, and I'm sure it will be an enjoyable experience (depending on our performance!) in the new stadium as well.

I still hope to visit WHL a few more times before its too late though.

Can you imagine what it's going to be like getting a ticket for the last match there. I hope they employ an LP system for that one otherwise it's going to like it was getting a Real Madrid ticket in the EL

It's gonna be an emotional day for sure, and there will definitely be more than 36.000 people wanting to attend that game. I'd love to be there, though my loyalty points won't be anywhere near enough. I agree with you that's the best way to do it: Let the most loyal fans have first priority on tickets for the final game at WHL. Then us less frequent visitors can fight it out for whatever tickets that remain.

Should be a home supporters game only as well, if possible.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

In years to come there will be hundreds of thousands of Spurs supporters who were at that game.

Would never be allowed or a compeitive match. Completley against the rules. And I wouldn't want our last game their to be a friendly.

As long as we're wearing our proper kit and not some marketing exercise ****e.

Could be a testimonial. Ledleys testimonial would have made a cracking last match at the WHL. Although it wouldnt surprise me if the fixture bloke (sorry, computer) 'arranged' for our last league game of our last season at the Lane to be 'conveniently' the NLD

...with Thierry ****ing Henry as the studio pundit, Tyler and Smith as the commentators.

Dawson has apparently been granted a testimonial (according to the THST meeting with Levy the other week), so that could fit in (considering King's took about 2 years to organise).

Better though would be a special WHL testimonial - a lot like the King match (current Spurs vs ex-Spurs), but with the theme of celebrating the last 100 odd years at the stadium.

Get real the league will arrange for our last home game to be the penultimate game of the season, probably against a team with a great recent record at WHL on a day of a transport strike.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

Heard the NFL are part funding Tottenham's new stadium as it will be home to a London franchise.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

Source ? Great if true

There have been rumours about this for ages. I have read reports that Wembley are also interested in hosting a franchise, so we could be in competition with them to secure one.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

That'll never happen, maybe at Wembley one day but not in Tottenham.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

I think that part of the reason for the speculation is because of our closeness to AEG and Maple Leaf.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

It would make Levy sense. Would increase our profitability. Business wise any of the London clubs would want it right?

I am guessing business wise all clubs would want it, the advantage we would have over Wembley is having a custom made stadium which could incorporate a NFL team, I would worry though whether it would still feel like a home to us and also what it would do to the pitch otherwise I could not care less. Can not stand the sport it is stupid but if people want to waste their money watching it then that is their business.
