The Official Olympic Thread

I was in the same hotel as the IOC on Saturday night.

Not only did the freeloading cnuts have a 150yd exclusion zone around the hotel so I couldn't park my car, but I had to go through a full airport security-style check just to get in to the hotel. Try doing that tinkled at 3am.

They also had the whole block lined with brand new BMWs just sitting and waiting to ferry them to wherever else they were heading to spend my money.

cnuts.

Nur Suryani Mohamad Taibi. She'll be competing for Malaysia at the Olympics, 8 months pregnant. In rifle shooting.

A Frenchman here has just told me and @gchase1 that it costs £180 to get internet access off Locog. If that's right, that's scandalous.
Don't want to get into a media whinge, but it's free at World Cups and Euros. It's a necessary tool for us to give their sponsors coverage.
So, in that spirit: I've always preferred Pepsi.
As @jonawils points out, some Premier League clubs charge media for wifi. That's the Premier League, with its £3bn TV rights deal.

0-0 in the first Womens olympic football.

England vs New Zealand.

England actually look alright, might want to look into buying one or two of them.. :p

Brazil v Cameroon Ladies playing to a nearly empty Millenium Stadium.

Women's football sucks though. From what I've read on the two first matches almost every goal scored the keeper was at fault. Which is usually the impression I get whenever I stumble upon it.

So here's what happened: Team NK come out, see SK flag, turn back refuse to play, saying it's a "pre-meditated act" on behalf of the IOC.

Don't underestimate the importance of team NK teams reaction in terms of how they will be perceived at home.

I'm sure North Korean television will only show a heavily edited version of the Olympics anyway.

Reports suggesting those sat at the back of the Aquatic Centre will have restricted views and will not be able to see the divers until they hit the water.

You mean like photoshopping Kim Jong-un's head on Usain Bolt's body as he crosses the finish line?

Not that obvious maybe, but skipping all the events they don't compete in and of course presenting the achievements of North Korean athletes as much better than they are. Maybe showing some South Koreans failing as well.
