Sergio Reguilón

Could have been mistaken for thinking this thread was about RBs, specifically Kyle Walker.

In terms of Reguilon, IF Madrid are going to activate his callback option and re-sign him for 40m, I think we could find someone better suited to Conte's style. I loved Reguilon when he first signed but he hasn't progressed enough IMO. Defensively he's average and attacking he's average/good. RM only have Marcelo and Mendy on their books at the moment, so they'll clearly be in the market for a LB this summer.
His own goals can be spectacular though.

Big difference is, defensively peak Walker and Rose IMPOSED themselves on opponents way more effectively than it's possible to imagine Royal and Sess ever doing. However Sess undoubtedly has the potential to far exceed either as an attacking WB, not sure you could say the same about Royal though.
Honestly from what I've seen in a flat back 4 ie. Pre Conte I think Royal is already a better defender than Walker. Like @demotw says absence has made the memory grow fonder. Walker was a liability but his pace and strength would allow him to consistently save his own created errors. He was not in himself good defensively, he also as noted had at least one brain fart per game. Royal hasn't done anywhere near that, has he even had an outright brain fart? Hell not even Aurier did that. [emoji1787]

Re Sess if we want a defensively competent WB then we play Reguilion who IS good defensively. Sess I'm not convinced every will be, but I'm happy to try the pair of them out and see whom ends up the stronger player.

Hickey at Bologna would be my guy.

Reggie showed some good intensity tonight. If he could improve his final ball (let alone finishing) he'd be quite a handy LWB.

A lot of interest in a left back who gets nose bleeds?!
Yes because he's a very good LB, not so good as a LWB. They are different position with different responsibilities band expectations. None of the teams supposedly interested play with wingbacks.

Quite harsh IMO
Not saying he's a bad LWB, I think he's pretty good as well. But he IS a specialist LB that we are converting into a new role and he is going through the adaptation process. A bit like with Royal though people seem to expect the player to just match up to the requirements immediately. I like him and I think ultimately he's probably better than Sess as he's a far better defender but not quite as good a finisher.
