Scott Parker

Hudd boasts a decent passing range while Livermore's workrate and physicallity always comes useful.

Difficult to comapre those 3 like-for-like - each offers something different

Would have agreed about the Hudd of 2 or 3 seasons ago. But the Hudd of this season has shown nothing of his passing qualities so far. Maybe he is not fully fit yet but he looks very clumsy now.

Don't know what people sees in Livermore but he is the only current Spurs player who makes me very nervous whenever he plays. He is always error-prone and gives away silly freekicks in dangerous positions.

Parker doesn't have the passing qualities but got top workrate and doesn't afraid to go into tackles. He will give us the much needed protection to our defence and help us keep those clean sheets. He got the tenacity we need in midfield that might scare off other teams.

Seen a couple of articles re Parker's return following which people have commented that they would play Parker and Sandro in the middle and push Dembele forward and drop Dempsey. Can't see that - Dembele is not a goalscorer, and whilst I accept that Dempsey hasn't exactly been banging them in for fun, you need a goal threat and creativity from the player who sits behind the striker and alongside Bale and Lennon.

I think Parker is great at what he does, but given how well Sandro is playing and given how much more mobile Dembele is, I'd use Parker in cup games to rest Sandro for League games. Big question will be what we'd do with our central midfield if (as seems to be rumoured again) AVB wants Moutinho in January. Is he creative enough to play behind a striker in a 4-2-3-1????

Saw somewhere today where AVB said it's great to have Parker back and that 'he's an amazing player.' Good to hear, sounds like will be in his plans....

Moutinho? No. He picks the ball up deep and spearheads attacks very much like how Modric played for us. Mountinho doesn't have the pace or goal scoring prowess needed to play behind a striker in my opinion and would be wasted higher up the field.

IF we did sign him I think we'd lineup like the following.

--------------------Striker--------------------

Bale---------------Dembele-------------Lennon

-------Sandro----------------Moutinho--------

All our players are "Amazing" currently. :)

I'd swap Mout and dembele.. Dembele has shown his ability to just run past a midfield, and he seems to excel at it coming from deep.

Just out of interest - did Parker tear his Achilles originally - i.e. what was the nature of his injury?

Not just Parker, but all the injuries to our players this season have been a real mystery. Don't know why it takes so long for players like Parker, BAE, Dembele, and Kaboul to recover so early in the season.

So its great we've got our big players on the mend - BAE and Parker back in contention soon....Is Kaboul far behind?

Actually, I was asking for personal reasons - my Achilles has been bothering me for the last 3-4 months and looks like it might need an operation (hopefully not - seeing a specialist later this month)

The fact that it has happened early in the season is irrelevant.

The injuries they have suffered are why they have been out so long..

Parker specifically because he played through it to play for England and made the existing condition worse..

Various news sources say surgery on it, i doubt it was a tear, he wouldn't be back this soon if it was.

Someone i know tore theirs and they have had to give up playing sports.. Granted with specialised physios and the money football clubs have they can likely get you going again...

Mine definitely isn't torn else I'd struggle to walk straight :) That is the worst thing that can possibly happen and Parker would have been out for longer, as you say.

It appears to be some kind of minor inflamation which refuses to go away!

That sucks, hope the meeting with the specialist goes well. [-o<

Been suffering the same problem since April-ish - its a pain in the ass, really frustrating. However, I've been doing this exercise regularly (ten repetitions as often as possible, been recommended once a day), and it has helped on the inflammation. Much better now, though it's still not 100% gone.

Scott Parker is set to return to the Tottenham squad for the first time this season against Swansea but the England midfielder will struggle to nail down a regular spot under Andre Villas-Boas.

Parker played the full 90 minutes for the club’s Under-21 side against Sunderland yesterday and should be cleared for Sunday’s Premier League game at White Hart Lane — the first time he has available for a top-flight match since the 1-1 draw at Aston Villa last May.

Spurs may have missed Parker’s determination and positional sense in certain matches but it is understood the 32-year-old, who is in the second year of a four-year deal, is unlikely to have the status he enjoyed under Harry Redknapp.

The former boss would always include Parker in the starting XI if the player was fit, and continues to monitor the situation as he seeks to strengthen his Queens Park Rangers squad next month.

It is thought Villas-Boas’s first choices in central midfield will remain Sandro and Mousa Dembele whatever system he uses.

The former Chelsea manager is also keen to increase his options in that position during the transfer window although his long-term target, Porto’s Joao Moutinho, is unlikely to move to London.

Villas-Boas’s presence at his old club’s Champions League game at Paris St Germain earlier this month led some to conclude the deal was back on but he only went to the French capital as a guest of Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.

Porto qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League and it is believed they would consider selling Moutinho only if his £31.5million release clause were met.
