Roberto Soldado

Lets just hope they decided to change the agreement to see if we would accept and as Baldini has said do one that they will come crawling back.

Good chance of this happening, they've pretty much said they want to sell but make sure they get the most they can.

Sometimes there has to be an element of calling their bluff.

Valencia's weakness is they're are seriously skint.

Our weakness is they know we are dead keen on buying a new front man (and have failed on our last two attempts)

Expect Baldi to be snapped in some french cafe down Lyon way shortly

As long as any other clubs keep their snoz out, Valencia will want the deal.

Id take Carlton Cole over Gomis.

This stinks of Levy waiting for the last day of the window to try and get a better deal, go over early, negotiate close to what they want and then leave them to call back or try again with very little time left in the window.

We would have signed that elusive 20 goal a season striker by now if it wasn't for those pesky kids.

so were coming up short then? though I thought the add-ons were taking us close to that mark if not hitting it???

No, we clearly don't think he's worth that much, or we would have bid that much.

Though truly we have no idea whats going on.

so have they changed to goalpost's of the deal????????????

hahahhahahahahah oh man you think it's Valencia that have changed the goal posts?

Baldini letting levy know about the discussions via phone:

Baldini: Hi Daniel, got some bad news

Levy : What is it?

Baldini: These ****s actually look like they're willing to accept a lesser figure than the 30m euros they quoted.

Levy: hmmmmmm fudge this is bad, knock an extra 4m from our original offer...that should see us home safe

Baldini : ok Daniel.

If true, its a tinkletake

Spurspanyol ‏@spurspanyol

Once Baldini/Spurs decided to move the goalposts after being so close to completing a deal, VCF pulled the plug on the deal.

He is 28 and not proven in this league so anymore than £20m - £22m max is to much.

So £22m is acceptable but £24m not?
None of these guys are actually worth what is paid for them. its about getting as close as you can to balancing the books whilst improving the squad.
Soldado in for say £22-24m, then get rid of the deadwood. It'll equate to a net spend but no club can expect to improve and challenge for CL places without spending money.

I genuinely think that until we're prepared to make a signing like this, we will remain outside the top 4.
We all know we are behind United & City. We are not as far behind Chelsea, but behind nevertheless.
The squad/team we had last season was, i think, a decent striker away from finishing 4th (or even 3rd).
If we sign a Soldado-type prolific striker, we maximise our chances of not spending a Sunday next May watching the last game of the season from behind the sofa, needing one of our rivals to **** it up.

For me its a no-brainer.
Soldado in.
Gomes, Townsend, Parker and one of Defoe or Adebayor out.

COYS

who knows what to think? we have to get the best price as do Valencia........maybe this is just a ceasefire rather than baldi trumpeting back to north London with a trump, trump, trump.

sorry the article above I was unsure whether it meant they had moved the goalposts........ although I did agree with you that I would nearly die of shock seeing us sanction 20m+ for a player....... Balls

Oh man this is literally the most predictable thing i've ever seen :ross::ross::ross:

Valencia coach Miroslav Djukic does not believe that any club will meet Roberto Soldado's buy-out clause.

Djukic is confident that the Spain international striker's clause of €30million will put off the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool and see the player stay in La Liga.

"I do not believe that any club will pay Soldado's buy-out clause," Djukic told reporters in Spain.

"What I think is that he will stay with us, although I cannot guarantee anything. In football and in life you have to be prepared for anything.

"We all want him to stay and we think that he will, but it is possible that someone could actually meet that buy-out clause even I do not think that will happen.

"For now, he is our player and we are counting on him.

"Since the start we have said that Soldado is not for sale and that the only way that he could leave is if someone meets the buy-out clause amount and the player accepts it."
