Premier League player of the season

Who is your current choice for Premier League Player of the Season?

  • Total voters
    43
The Bleacher Report top 20 players in the Premier League now has Dembele at number 1

Also in the top 20 are Eriksen, Kane, Alli, and Toby

Vote really should go to the player on the side that wins the league

If Leicester win -> one of Mahrez/Vardy
If Spurs win -> one of Kane/Toby

the rest have had good seasons, but if City/Scum don't win (or even come 2nd), then none of their players deserve consideration (unless you had someone winning the golden boot by 10+ goals, which you don't).

The PFA award votes have already been made and the award is presented next month.
Its pretty meaningless.

Nice to see Toby getting the recognition. We could so easily throw in Dier and Alli - and Dembele. It's amazing but none of the 'traditional top four' players have stamped their authority this season. Aguero through injury, Ozil has been in and out

Great to see Dembele's all round game getting proper recognition, but that top 20 is more about current form, based mainly on the last six games.

Robert Huth. Failaini has been a disappointment at United, although Carroll is making a late run.

and PotY has to be Toby Alderweireld, there isn't another player in the league that holds a defence together like he does, can turn defence in to attack so easily, his range of passing is superb and he scores as well.

Alderweireld is truly world class. We were lucky to get him(a major coup for Levy) and we will be lucky to keep him long term .Imo he is the biggest difference this year.A great player makes the players around him better.Ha i remember people saying why do we need him we have Fazio and should focusing our buying elsewhere.

PFA Player of the Year shortlist: Payet, Kane, Vardy, Kante, Mahrez, Özil

Young Player of the Year shortlist: Butland, Alli, Kane, Barkley, Lukaku, Coutinho

Young player of the year has to be Alli
how the fudge did Toby not get on player of year shortlist?

Has Coutinho really been that good? I'm sure he just scored some half-decent goals, same as he did last time out when he was nominated, but in "real terms" I thought he would have contributed less overall?

Perhaps this should exist in a different thread?!?.... But my team of the season would be:

-------------------------------De Gea
Bellerin--------Alderweireld--------Vertonghen--------Rose
------------------Kante----------------------Dembele
-----------Mahrez-------------Ozil----------------Payet
--------------------------------Kane

Bench:
Lloris
Walker
Huth
Dier
Eriksen
Alli/Coutinho
Vardy

And if we look at the starting team above - you could put in Lloris for Dea Gea, Walker for Monreal, Dier for Kante and Eriksen for Ozil and not really have too much difference in terms of quality.... With that in mind we should definitely be making cheeky bids for Mahrez and Payet this summer! ;)
