***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur v Hull City, Saturday 1st February 15:00

At least we're a game nearer the end of Sherwood, heh?

Thanks. That thought just cheered me up quite a bit.

Er, wast that the team you would have picked as well, GB?

Can't blame that on TS then can you?

Same players. I said 4-3-3 though with Eriksen giving us a 3rd body and some more control in CM. That would also have given Lennon, Walker and Rose more licence to provide width.

I'd also probably have spent a bit of time on the training pitch teaching the players how to pass, press and play as a cohesive unit/to a system.

Not awful like we have been under Tim, but there's still so much to worry about. It was a beyond average performance, our players are so good we dictated play, but we didn't create any chances, it was exactly like AVB this season, but we didn't seem to have a proper shape, and, and this is the most worrying thing, nothing was done to try and change it. It was average, Hull looked dangerous at times on the counter, but Tim did NOTHING, our bench was cack in an attacking sense (why didn't he put on that new striker we bought in January we badly needed?!)... he left it, and like I've felt in most games with him, hoped for the best!!

I just don't understand how anyone can be happy with Tim, happy with how we are playing (not doing) and the decisions he's making.

In games like this Lennon just has to deliver the width to create chances and unlock teams. He sure didn't on Wednesday. Did he today?

No, everyone seemed to think that they were central midfielders. The whole team wanted to try to be in the same position too often.

I think we need Rose and Walker for the width, we then need quality in the centre, and that may mean no place in future for Lennon. I feel we need our central midfield to work hard. If we have 5 central midfielders in the centre, due to the width being provided from the full backs, then we need to have Capoue and Sandro in there, with then two ball playing midfielders and one who can support Adebayor.

One of Capoue, or Sandro, then drops in to defence, to make a three man defence, if either Rose or Walker are caught too far up field. The player not dropping back, from that pair, then need to apply pressure to the player on the ball whilst the two passers work defensively covering spaces and trying to cut off passes.

Hang on mate. Decent team? Where are they and where do we want to be. Your talking ****e. Good game/fair game. Ok if thats what we want to compete with. Tell Levy to equate our budget with those teams. I like watching a competitive game but don't then support Spurs against the likes of Hull. FYI Hull24pts after 24 games

what does "your talking ****e" mean?

I like you're positive about Tim, but of course you can blame that on Tim, yet again he gives no protection to the back 4. Bentaleb, again tidy, again a good player, IS NOT WHAT WE NEED in that position. We need Capoue, we've needed him every game Tim has come in. I'd prefer Cpaoue and Bentaleb, it's not an attack on Bentaleb (though you'd be a fool to pick him over Paulinho/Dembele.

The biggest crime today was what he did to change the game in our favour. Adapt to Hull's tactics. Try and find a goal. NOTHING!!!

Who on the bench was going to change the game?

He should have changed it tbh. I mean, i don't rate any attacking player on the bench much but there's no reason for Soldado to get 90 minutes after a performance like that. Kane or Chadli for him on the 75th minute would have been fine.

I think we should have loaned out Bentaleb to Fulham, instead of Holtby. I maintain that Holtby is a better player than Bentaleb. What can Bentaleb do that Holtby can't do?

Agree that Kane should have come on, Soldado's performance was woeful.

it was nothing like under avb. that performance was better than the two we managed at home against the same opposition.

i'm not saying it was great, but we at least looked like we might be able to score today, which we did.

the idea of having soldado as loan man though like avb manfully tried to persevere with is scary. he was obliged to try it but blimey hard to imagine any team scoring with just him up top.

not saying that was the only reason for avb's shortcomings but it is hardly likely to have helped his cause.

i'm no chadli fan but him for lennon and kane for soldado would have been a decent shout.

Wow it's amazing how people see a football match so differently.

Benteleb was very good (the commentators agreed). He constantly asked for the ball, constantly played forward thinking passes, was very strong when in possession of the ball and held players off at ease, nearly scored too. His weakness is his positioning when not in possession but today it was good.

I'm gonna be honest here, he basically played in the centre by himself a lot of the time. Paulinho goes missing for large chunks in games, this is fact. Benteleb was doing an awful lot of work...and credit to paulinho, who unlike Soldado, at least poses an attacking threat.

Chadli or Kane on for Soldado ..... Maybe could've taken Lennon off who was getting no joy out on the right against Figueroa and put on Naughton at right-back , pushing Walker further up field.

It were 1-1 and we needed three points.

Why bother having a bench if you're not going to make use of it?

But that's what Soldqdo needs: minutes on the pitch.

How will he ever find form and he and the team adapt to each other otherwise?

He had 75 minutes...he did diddly squat...he lost the ball....he missed a good chance. We're not a charity, we can't simply give him minutes so he can 1 day score a goal from open play.

It means ****e. What comes out of your bottom. You said 'hahahahah get a grip guys ffs...we drew 1-1 away to a decent team in the premiership. If it wasn't for the fact that we have a £26m pound waster up top we would have walked that.' That decent team is sitting now13th with 24 after 24 games. We should be creaming those teams.

More importantly, coming off 4 straight losses, one win in 10 and highly likely to get relegated.

when things are going wrong you need a little bit of everything. width, individual imagination, creativity etc
i really want to see
paulinho eriksen dembele
lamela adebayor townsend

i think this ticks all the boxes and should serve us well.
paulinho and demeble if instructed and up for it are excellent defensively - paulinho has no problem gettin stuck in and dembele can run and tackle all day when he is up for it. eriksen in the middle is a no brainer. lamela inide right will bring the best out of him and townsend can provide the width for ade plus late runs from lamela (scored many like that for roma) and paulinho.
