Which teams are playing well?

Brighton played keep ball all game and did nothing.

the period up to xmas was always going to be difficult.

we are a brick hand ball call from being top.

Which is the plus but we can't keep turning this in if we are to win

Well, Solksjaer is now on seriously wobbly legs. Pochettino in the wings. The Popguns winning at a big 6 rival for the first time since George Graham. Giant talking points for bigger audiences than Spurs pipping mighty Brighton.

I know what you're saying, but at the rate they are going they soon won't be classed as a Top 6 side

Look

We know we can attack and blow teams away

Now we're seeing signs we can grind out results and defend when we need to.

You'd think as a fan base we'd be happy but again it's so much negatively. Brighton battered Utd and gave Chelsea a good game. It's like people think anyone outside the top 6 should be a walkover. They had the ball bit created nothing, we scored sat too deep and when they scored turned it up a notch and got the win.

3 points, job done.

From supporters of a team that historically slip up in these games all of a sudden we've got expensive tastes.

Its a fair point but it does feel a bit of a struggle when you’re grinding it out against Brighton at home. Burnley away? Fair enough but Brighton at home feels like a game we should be playing better in.

So far this season, we’ve really only played well against United, Southampton in the second half and possibly Saudi Sportswashing Machine. It’s been fairly ordinary other than that. That said, we’re second and Jose is still bedding in a lot of new players.

I’m happy tonight but do understand the frustration.

Scholes and Ian Wright laughing their ass off, and cannot fatom how the ref didn't give the FK! Also the former ref, Gallagher? can't understand it. He even said it should be a yellow card to the Brighton player.

yes, on the replay there were two clear angles that showed PEH toed the ball away, then got clattered. Crazy not to give it.

As an amateur referee I can't tell you how many times you give a foul where someone gets clattered and the player to have committed it defends himself by saying "but ref I got the ball" Apart from the constant call of 'Foul Throw' its the most tiresome conversation you have with players each game as the answer is quite simply "it doesn't matter if you also made contact with their player".

That was a quite scandalous decision by G Scott who rather than admitting his mistake has doubled down. As already stated it's not a VAR issue - VAR only incriminates him further as he's had two perfect views - one in real time and the other on multiple videos - and still got it wrong.

Well look, it was another uninspiring performance. We've seen a real variance of swashbuckling football and lacklustre football this season to have to conclude we'll have some mixed results this season. It is concerning how we struggle against a 3-4-3.

Anyway, a 1-1 draw at West Brom to look forward to next weekend!

Brighton have been the better team in almost every game they’ve played this season, I thought we made them look completely toothless today. All the ball but did nothing with it. Ironically if we’d played like that the same people being critical of us now would be critical of us for creating nothing and having no plan!

We haven't, only a few weeks ago we were blasting teams off the park. The season ebbs and flows, if you can win through them both you are in a good situation. On the Guardian comments after the Burnley game a Chelsea fan said that Mourinho always turns more defensive after his team has let in a number. I thought that was interesting given what has happened since West Ham.

I know you should always play to the whistle but no matter what, when something like that happens you have it on your mind in that moment and no one is concentrating 100% even more so now when you have VAR. If you are convinced it was a foul your mindset changes slightly in the moment thinking var will help you out.

Which team has played consistency well this season though?

Even then it was PEH that got the ball. Their guy didn’t touch it.

Fair point. It’s been a very odd season so far. Look at United for example. They looked fudging turgid today and they’ve lost 3 games at OT now.

I’m happy but I do understand the frustration with a game like tonight. But it’s better to be frustrated with 3 points than 1 or 0.

It's almost as though there are more than two ways of performing...

As with my criticism last season Jose needs to find a way of being defensively solid without sacrificing attacking play to do so.
